So I've been out of the gym for the last 6 months, and I'm starting back up tomorrow.
I'm sure I've lost tons of strength and form, but I've still got my foundation and all the knowledge I acquired...Im not going to jump right back into my old routine again, but I don't know if I really need to start at the very beginning and progress as slowly as I did initially.
Any suggestions for how to begin and then progress after a hiatus?

you will probably be surprised at how little strength you have actually lost, so long as you have eaten like a fat fuck like i did.

Do some LP until your levels and conditioning are back up before hopping on a real program.

Is that a penis?
Linear progression based around your goals, start with half of what you did before you stopped and increase depending on how many reps you're able to hit. Something I did when I got back into it, with a goal of getting my lacking pressing up to par was this:
Bench Press or Overhead Press - 3x5
Bench Press or Overhead Press - 3x12,10,8 (The opposite one of what I did for 5 reps)
Squat - 3x5 or Deadlift - 3x1 (Deadlift Wednesday, Squat Monday and Friday)
A back-exercise such as T-Bar rows, Pulldowns or Bent-over Rows - 5x12,10,8,6,4
Then I threw in some curls when I felt like it. Also cardio on Tuesday and Thursday.

that's the left side of her pussy
I did this. Pretty much went fucking insane in 2014 in the gym. 2015 got girlfriend cancer and gained 25 lbs. Broke up and started back in the gym in February.
The first 2 weeks are going to suck dick. The DOMs are going to be nightmare mode on your first chest and leg day. But after about 2 months of pushing hard I'm pretty much back to benching and OHPing what I used to.
I can't deadlift the 390ish but I'm ok with that. My cardio endurance is through the fucking roof. Down 18 lbs. Hoping to take another 10 off in the next month or two.

Oddly enough, gf with cancer was the reason for my hiatus too. Started to drink a lot, not proud of it. Just building a routine again was a good kick in the dick.

this makes me not want to be natty any more

Yeah, the DOMS are probably the thing I'm worried about the most. Not looking forward to it at all.
Plus it's going to be a new gym for me so I have to learn their etiquette and where everything is...sure I'll look autistic the first few weeks.
