Is there any reason I shouldn't do this?

I have a job gym with a power rack on a concrete floor in my basement. Is there any reason I shouldn't be squatting barefoot?

No.

Not really. Some people find it difficult to get to depth barefoot, but if you're flexible enough, go for it.

might be worth setting up the weight (height, plates etc.) with shoes on in case you drop shit on your feet
>>

that's what the safety bars are for, friendo

I don't have safety bars. I only have a bench. I adjust the height of the weight rack of my bench to highest, then I do a half squat to get the barbell on my shoulders and another to put it back. All of this with control in the mirror.

Works pretty sweet, I'm just worried that I might not get up on an unexpected bad day. That would ruin the parquet.

You want to be touching the floor with a flat surface (shoe). A foot isn't flat.

no, it's kinda gross though but who cares

The best thing you can do is have a pro (someone who knows their shit) analyze your squat. After I did that I found that weightlifting shoes with an elevated heel was best for me and I haven't looked back since.

Gee, looks like the pro really helped. Except that this advice counts for literally everyone. Even people who are really flexible and can squat perfectly fine without them will still benefit from them.

Like the lateral stability in good shoes.

This. Especially if you get a pair with metatarsal straps. Feels like it belts you to the floor.

Also, I just love oly lifting shoes to begin with because I oly lift and high bar squat.

You want to be touching the second shoe with a flat surface (third shoe). A foot isn't flat.
