Unfortunately there's a lot of /r9k/ shitposting, but I think cozy threads are nice, even though they're not technically /fit/. It's nice to just relax and take a break at the end of the day, relieve mental stress.

As long as it's not "abloobloo no gf" shitposting, I think lifestyle stuff on /fit/ is acceptable to a small degree

Super cozy, Cloud Atlas was great

For me, cozy songs are the ones that kind of give a deep peace, but deep vibrating excitement at the same time. They make me think of the innocence of childhood, and how expansive the world is and how small I am, but I feel safe because I'm wrapped up cozy in a blanket

Especially helps if there's a thunder/snow storm

Based on what I know, muscle repair would probably be slower. Your body recuperates primarily when you're asleep and a little bit when you're just resting such as sitting on a chair at an office job.
The dude who gets 8 hours of sleep will recover faster (with proper nutrition) than the guy who gets 6 hours of sleep (with proper nutrition and no naps).

I've got no sources. This is all coming from what I already know about muscle recovery. Feel free to critique what I've said

Avoid electronic devices for at least half an hour before bed, unless it's a backlit e reader. I've started reading for 30-45 minutes before bed each day and it's been great for sleep.

Also listen to comfy, but slow paced music like what is posted in this thread. Avoid anything fast paced or even upbeat, just stick with calm. And if you feel like crying then cry, bottling it up will just keep you up all night. Believe me, I'm talking from experience.
>>
>>37469010
>More preferably is there anyway to get over mental anguish?

Try meditation or mindfulness exercises. It really helps get rid of the mental "clutter" that often keeps you awake at night even when you feel tired.

Just take like 10-15 minutes to sit, or even lay down with no distractions or interruptions. Close your eyes, focus on your immediate surroundings: your breathing, the contact of your body on the chair or floor or bed, any slight sounds you might hear in the room, any smells, etc. As soon as your mind starts to wander just guide it back to your breathing. Focus on the rising and falling of your chest as you inhale/exhale. Don't force yourself to have a clear mind but realize that your thoughts are all passing and you can choose to let them drift by instead of getting lost in them. Just practice that for a little bit every day, or do it when you're feeling anxious and restless. Hope that helps.

No, i never had any pets growing up.
I've only had like 4 close friends, lost contact with 2 of them, because they said i wasn't invested in our friendship or something along those lines and spend time with the other 2 only like 1-2 times a month.

To answer your original post, if i'm not tired i'll go for a late night run like 2 hours before the time i want to be in bed to relieve mental stress.
I used to obsessively over-think stuff like what i could've done in another/better way regarding work, friends and other everyday small stuff and found that running always helps me clear my mind a great deal.
>>
>>37467231
But you always hit rem in polyphasic, in fact I think it's mostly Rem in the few hours you get.

>>37468984
So is rem the only part of sleep that is essential to muscle repair?
>>
Drinking beer all the time kills my rem sleep and gives me heartburn which kills normal sleep which makes me miss workouts. Feel worse so I eat and drink more, cycle repeats.
Pretty sure if i could quit this I'd be down to ideal wt in no time, but I try and try and keep relapsing

ways to treat mental anguish
>spending time outdoors in quiet natural settings
>spending time around people (it doesn't have to be people you know, it can be a cafe or something)
>a lot of low-intensity exercise/activity during the day
>creative work (even writing out your thoughts is helpful, I think - and if that's too direct abstract creativity like painting or singing works as well)
>diet
>singing in a choir (reduces stress, increases longevity etc.)
>gardening
I recommend voluntary work too but it might depend on the type of work.

I do night rides to do my deep thinking and listening to music. On the real, I do night walks and listen to my music to relax. But I would recommend X-2 if you want the story fleshed out and have a happy ending if you 100% the game if I recall.

interesting considering autumn and spring are just transitional stages between the two most dramatic seasons summer and winter.

they're so fleeting, I'd say on a given year I enjoy maybe three weeks of autumn and one week of spring. the rest it's either bone cold or hot as fuck, ever live in Utah anon?

Sometimes I can't sleep because I'm so hyped for working out, other times I can't get up to workout.

>>37474670
Kinda.
I think ideal is 8 hours.
8 hours sleep, 8 hours work/study, 8 hours for everything else.

If you're at all prone to anxiety or depression you should be getting at least 8 hours nightly. If I don't sleep well my autism gets triggered so hard that I can't have a conversation.

picture chopping logs in the forest all sweaty and carrying them into the woodhouse. you bring a few into the house and light a fire. turn on your favorite tunes and chill having some drinks. you take a shower and notice this comfy scene so you lay face down for a minute...just a minute......

Nope, I live in New York where we get to experience a month of quintessential fall weather and 2 whole weeks of spring.

I live for those brief in between moments when the outside weather is perfect.

Getting up super early tomorrow/no sleep at all, how/what do I do do least kill my gains? I'm gonna be up until around 9 tomorrow as well so going home and sleeping isn't an option. Should I not sleep at all and stay awake semi-active or just lie in bed wide awake?

Just go to bed asap. Get off the computer and read a book in bed. Eventually you'll doze off. If you sit on the PC all night your brains gonna be racing. Or listen to ASMR lying in bed or something. Just try to chill out, and think of all the gains you'll be making in those hours of sleep you do get.

>>37479612
That never works if you ask me. The best way I've found to make it easier to go to bed at night is just to get up at a good time. But it takes discipline. The trick is to have something to look forward to. Could just be going to the gym in the morning, could be morning coffee, just w/e. Also try as above to shut your brain down.

If I got shit sleep during the night, will taking a 1-2 hour nap before the gym make up for that? Does a nap that short have as good an effect?
