I was going pretty consistently for a couple semesters at college. This scrawny dude walked in, got on the ab machine, did like 11 reps - "AAAAAHHH!!!"ing the whole time. Loud. As. Fuck. Everyone was staring at him. He just kept looking around, wide eyed, trying to make eye contact with anyone who would look at him. "AAAAAHHHHH!!!" He then got off, didn't wipe off the equipment, massaged his stomach, and "AAAAAAHHHH!"ed his way out of there.

He was in the gym for less than 60 seconds. The whole building roared with laughter as soon as he left.

About as good a thread as any to ask, how do you guys get over your crippling fear of being judged?

I'm brand new to weight lifting and basically exercise in general as a recovering skinnyfat only lifting for a month, and the constant fear of judgement I feel will ruin me.

I only go to my apartment complex weight room right now, but do most everything with free weights and have made what I consider to be decent progress in the sense I've gone from doing all my exercises at 15 to 25 with dbs. Especially considering I started from unironically zero muscle. But I plan on going to a real gym soon and this thread makes me feel like I'm just going to get laughed out of the gym. I guess I'm sorry for being weak? At least I'm better than the person I was yesterday.

I will say anon, I used to be like you. But then I started lifting with a friend who does Crossfit, and things like thrusters used to fuck my wrists up. Those wraps, gloves, and belts help you from fucking your shit up.

Beats by Dre, stringer hoodies, under armour, etc... Yeah those are a waste of money. But if it's genuinely getting you excited to workout, more power to you! It's all about what motivates you to be better than you were the day before.
