What's the consensus in /fit/ about using elevation training masks?

Are body-weights also a decent idea, or nah?

I once suggested to /fit that, instead of bulking to raise one's body weight and then cutting to have the strength of a fatter man, people that just wear bodyweights. The idea was turned down on the grounds that the weight wouldn't be distributed properly. O for one am not entirely convince that a light vest, and some leg and arm wraps wouldn't be pretty effective and healthier than bulking but I don't know if that school of thought had ever been tested so I can't say whether the idea holds any water.

you don't bulk to have the strength of a fat man, you fool
you bulk because your body lets muscles grow more when you have calories to spare.

/fit/ doesn't know shit about anything besides strength and protein diet.
you should ask an MMA trainer about ,asks.
by body-weights do you mean push ups and pull ups or actual wegiths that go on your body?

>you don't bulk to have the strength of a fat man, you fool
Lets admit it though, it doesn't have *nothing* to do with it.

If a fat guy (lets say 30 lbs heavier than a skinny guy) did exactly the same exercises (strength, cardio etc) as as the skinny guy, the fat guy would necessarily be the stronger of the two because he's working out 30 lbs more weight. And if the same stronger fat guy slimmed down a bit, he'd still have the strength of a fat man but in a smaller body.

Completely stupid as they do not adequately nor properly reflect actual training at high altitude.

Elevation training masks are a fucking con. They make it harder to breath by restricting air flow which is not an accurate recreation of the effects you have from the changed air pressure at altitude. They produce a constant period where you are just struggling to breathe because they change the composition of the air you are taking in. They do this because they rapidly increasing your level of CO2 and N levels because they don't allow the proper expulsion of these waste gases. This means you breathe in more fucking shit you can't use sooner which leads to quicker fatigue and puts you into an anerobic state more rapidly. Meaning you 'feel the burn' cause your body isn't clearing out the shit it can't use as effectively as it otherwise should be.

The misconception is that this is recreating altitude training because it feels 'harder to breath' at altitude but its fucking retarded. The reason its 'harder' to breath at altitude is because the lower pressure reduces the number of molecules of gases per volume of air you breath in. At any altitude air contains the same fucking ratio of gases but there are fewer molecules per unit volume at altitude. IE the lower pressure reduces the overall availability of O2 for you to take in but the ration of gases in that air remains the same.

To recreate the later you need a Hypoxicator which can raise and lower the pressure to recreate the conditions of altitude and automatically adjust the air pressure allowing intervals to be set where the user recieves hypoxic, hyperoxic or normoxic air without changing the ratio / composition of what is being breathed in. They are typically massive though, expensive and used more in short sessions to encourage the body to adapt to the lower rate of available O2 compared to increasing the levels of shit its breathing in.

Lay off the anime kid. It's making a complete tool/moron

That was a special mask that wouldn't let any air in unless he engaged in a magical breathing rhythm that grants magical powers in that universe.

Oxygen arriving at your muscles is NOT limited by the strength of your diaphram or your ability to suck in more air. all those masks do is encourage deeper and more forceful breaths. This is very different from high altitude training.
