Sup fitizens,thinking of finally biting the bullet and going to the gym but nervous as fuck. I'm afraid i'm going to spill mt spaghetti so have you guys got some tips? Yeah I know people will say go when it quiet but I think that could be worse as the people that work there will notice me more.

First few times go when crowd is less.
Just go in, do your workout.
Be polite, don't create arguments, you're new, they're not. Feel out the ecosystem for a couple of weeks.
Get to know the staff, ask their names when you meet them.
Two weeks later it's now your gym, you can now escalate your influence and be more aggressive.

Mostly I'm afraid of making fool of myself because I don't know where to start when I get there. I have never used a treadmill or any of that stuff so Im worried I will make a fool of myself trying to use them. And what am I supposed to do in between my breaks, what if the machine I need is being used etc. Shit is scary af when you start thinking about it, I'm considering taking drugs like MDMA to not be worried much, is it a good idea?

Just go already, I felt the same and was also skinny as fuck, weak on everything, embarrassed, but you go every day, you get stronger, now I feel really comfortable at the gym, I love being there.
Nobody gives a fuck that you're weak or out of shape, they likely see beginners every day. Just start by going, even if you only do a couple things, just be there every day and I promise in a week you'll be comfortable.

Just did the same recently. Just go in with headphones and do cardio everyday. Get comfortable with the place and observe how people are training without staring. You'll start to see the same people and nervousness goes away. Feels like a second home now.

Do some research before you go. Figure out what exercises you're doing and have some sort of routine planned. It will help keep you focused on what's important , the exercises. Not what anyone else thinks.

You pay for the gym so you are also paying for advice from the people who work there so ask them to help and learn what to do first hand, Find a routine and get them to teach you each excerise and how to perform it correctly. /thread

I have no idea how to use shit, I might just watch YouTube videos on it for a 3 months so I know everything and I'll still be paranoid for the first few days

Don't waste 3 months watching vidoes. You need some practical experience. Spend a weekend watching vids. Don't ego lift, you're weak so going heavy with shit form won't impress anyone. Everybody was new at some point. And just like op, you're gonna make it bro.

I joined a gym when i was 16. First thing i did was jump on the lat pull down and the gym at reception comes over and asks if i know what I'm doing. I had no idea and i asked him to show me and he said some bs like i haven't got time. I didn't go back and didn't train again until i was 18.
Some people are just jerks so you will get it no matter what.
Watch some YouTube videos of what to do and how to do it. Have a plan of exactly what you are going to do and a few extra incase someone is using the equipment.
I've been going to the gym now for 15 years and if anyone wanted help i would gladly do that for them.
