Conventional or Sumo DL?

Which is the better lift?
>>
>>37351370
Conventional because sumo are for weak faggots that can't do conventional.
>>
>>37351370
Conventional, because I do conventional. So whenever someone pulls more than me, I can say "lol you probably pull sumo anyway" and save my pride.
>>
>>37351375
Ehh sumos tech is harder, and most people can lift more conventional style
>>
I can barely do conventional, I don't know why. I can squat 90 kg, sumo 100kg, but conventional I can do like 30 before I fuck up my back

So for me, sumo
>>
The only people who do sumo deadlifts at my gym are women.
You are stronger than a woman aren't you anon?
>>
>>37351420
Sumo is harder than conventional how?
>>
>>37351483
Different leverages and shit. Requires more mobility. It's a harder lift to master form-wise than the conventional deadlift.

Okay.
>>
>>37351491
Bullshit. Sumo is ridiculously easy as long as you have decent hip mobility.
You're acting like every first-time lifter can do conventional without any problems.
>>
>>37351420
yeah that's why most people in meets lift sumo-style right?

I pull conventional but sumo isn't really easier. It shortens RoM at the cost of making it harder to break off the ground.
>>
>>37351514
>That
>Sumo
That's just a squat with the bar in her hands. Anyone can do stupid shit with 40 kgs on the bar, her deadlift would look different if she put on 80-90% of her max on the bar.

>>37351516
>Bullshit. Sumo is ridiculously easy as long as you have decent hip mobility.
How much do you pull sumo and how much do you pull conventional?

>You're acting like every first-time lifter can do conventional without any problems.
No, I didn't.
>>
>>37351375
Conv is for weakies who can't do sumo
>>
Sumo is a tool for short-armed stubby pawahliftas who cry because their deadlift isn't proportionally as good as their bench and squat. So they use it to inflate their numbers.

Compare sumo pullers physiques to conventionals and you will see their proportions are all weird, while conventional pullers, even if they are a bit fat, still look aesthetic and well proportioned.
>>
>>37351554
195kg conventional
I hardly ever do sumo, but most I lifted with it was 180 for a single

>>
>>37351583
So you pull about 90% as much sumo as you do conventional but it's still "ridicously easy"?
>>
>>37351584
>dat rom
I'd have to pull further on a fucking 18" deadlift
More power to him though, as long as it gets the numbers.
>>
>>37351370

Conventional deadlift is the better lift for displaying overall strength, imo, as its much less technique dependent.

As for training, that depends entirely on what you're trying to accomplish.
>>
>>37351601
It evens out in the bench. At Europeans he benched 227,5 and pulled 360, and in equipped lifting that's a very poor bench for a 105 kg lifter.
>>
>>37351597
I don't ever do sumo and I can pull 4pl8 so yeah it's fucking easy
>>
>>37351601

He's got the Coan build, bastard offspring of an orang-utan and a postal box. Whatever form he used his ROM would be fucking short because the little shit can scratch his knees without bending.
>>
It's the equivalent of arcing your back as high as you can to reduce your ROM on bench and ego lift more weight.
>>
>>37351620
>It's fucking easy but I lift less
Topkek, you crybaby. People don't give a shit if you sumo or conv, it's only your autism that is triggered, because we pull more than you, weakfag.
t. 235kg sumo puller
>>
conventional if you're an alpha, and sumo if you're a women or a faggot
>>
>>37351639
I like how you're assuming it was hard it was not, I struggle on conventional while sumo was literally a hip thrust forward. Like I said sumo are easy
>>
Why have I never seen a female do conventional deadlifts? They're always doing sumo.

I actually find conventional easier, sumo hurts my hips.
>>
>>37351658
>Sub-200kg deadlifter talking about how easy it is
Out of my face
>>
>>37351620
>I don't ever do sumo and I can pull 4pl8 so yeah it's fucking easy
Shouldn't you be able to pull actually impressive weights if it's easy?
>>
>>37351660

Female hip structure tends to be much friendlier to wide stances than male is, so you see a lot more women squatting wide and pulling sumo in powerlifting. They also tend to be shorter on average, which correlates with being better built for sumo in terms of limb/torso proportions.

I can't even get into the start position for proper sumo without jamming bone on bone. My hips just aren't built for wide anything.

>>37351547
conventional is the bitch to get off the ground, sumo is harder to lock out

its why I do sumo

sumo = lower chance of back problem
>>
>>37351665
Because I prefer conventional I only did sumo once just to try it out so why should I give a shit? I did 4pl8 easy no struggle, go have your average sumo lifter and tell them to do a conventional 4pl8 they wouldn't even be able to budge that.
>>
>>37351681
if that helps you sleep better at night , so be it princess
>>
>>37351597
Did you not read the part where I said I hardly ever do it? I've been doing conventional for almost 3 years and I only pull 15kgs more than with sumo which I've never directly trained. Bet your ass that I could get it to shoot up way over 200kgs if I replaced my conv deadlifts with them, but I wont, because I'm not a faggot.
>>
>>37351688
>4pl8 is easy
Uh yeah? All your lifts are easy...
>>
>>37351688
>go have your average sumo lifter and tell them to do a conventional 4pl8 they wouldn't even be able to budge that.
>hurr I'm a retard
Most people who deadlift with any style can't pull 405
>>
>>37351694
neger I used to pull both and I found sumo much easier on the back which is backed by articles
>>
>>37351681

If you're struggling to lock out your sumo, something is going seriously wrong off the ground.
>>
>>37351704
True, but it doesn't mean it's easier to break the bar off the ground with it.
If you're pulling conventionally with good form then it's easier to break it off the ground because you're in a mechanically better position. That's why you hardly ever see sumo lifts fail at the top, it's almost always at the bottom
>>
>>37351702
There are 2 dudes in my gym who have been doing sumo deadlifts for a while now. I saw them pull 165kg for a set of 5, and then they said "let's give normal deadlifts a try"

They couldn't even lift that weight for a single with conventional style.

Stop trying to make a case for why sumo is just as hard as conventional, when you know you're full of shit.
>>
>>37351719
Their hips are not strong enough need to go do the hip abductor machine more
>>
>>37351724
Back when I could conv 190kgx5, I'd struggle with 140x1 sumo. It's simply a matter of technique
>>
>>37351719
>muh momentum
doesnt matter anyway because im grip limited and thats what always gives out on top
>>37351723
weird I did only pull conventional when I started and I absolutely hated them so I skipped them until I found out sumo, maybe theyre worth a revisit
>>
>>37351724
Probably because they don't know how to do it. Properly pulling conventionally will be counter-intuitive for someone used to sumo. If sumo is easier why do the people with the biggest deadlifts hardly ever do it?
>>
>>37351740
Yeah okay buddy, sumofags always gotta make shit up to justify their easy ass fuck lift.
>>
>>37351744
If doing a variation of the deadlift makes it harder to lift heavy weights, why do people insist on using it instead of just pulling normally? Not in a general strength setting but powerlifting meets in particular. You think these people would be doing sumo if they could lift less weight with it than with conventional?
>>
>>37351744

Sumo isn't really easier across the board, but whether or not its more efficient (assuming equal training) has a lot to do with proportions. The proportions that favour conventional - long limbs, short torso - are much more common in taller/heavier lifters than sumo-favouring proportions (and when they are found, they're usually in squat specialists).

Compare the builds of someone like Malanichev to that of Hall and you'll see what I mean.
>>
>>37351688
You'll be using the exact same muscles.

It's all about practice. Sumo is better because it allows you to do it with less flexibility/mobility.

So I guess sumo is worse for people who don't want to train flexibility to make their bfs happy.
>>
>>37351763
Some people are stronger with sumo, some are stronger with conventional. Not everyone is instantly stronger with sumo. Mindblowing, isn't it?
>>
>>37351770

Sumo and conventional do not use the exact same muscles in the same amounts. There's overlap but also a lot of difference. Sumo also requires greater hip mobility than conventional.
>>
>>37351768
Exactly my point
Sumo isn't easier. I pull conventional (really don't like sumo) but because I'm not an autist I won't claim a lift isn't legitimate just because of the way it's done.
Did it go from the floor to a lockout? If so, it's a good lift
>>
>>37351681
its the opposite you fucking retard
why you give adcive if you dont know shit
