How do you go about tanning? Outdoors or tanning booths? Any tips? Advice on getting spooky ghosts to get that golden glow?

I like a light complexion, but I hate being uneven with tanned limbs and a pale body. It's weird cause I always wear long sleeves so idk how this happens. Think I might try outdoor tanning for evenness but idk.
For those who tan outdoors, what do you put on your skin beforehand?

I lay out for 30 minutes about twice a week. I lay on my back for 15 minutes then flip over to my stomach for 15. I went from spooky ghost to average last year. I don't usually get burned so I don't wear sunblock, but if I'm going to the beach or something out all day I will
