Which is better? I would have thought underhand since it involves biceps and back
>>
I thought chin-ups were exclusively supinated or semi-supinated

>underhand or overhand chins

They're either pull-ups or chin-ups you stupid fuck. Overhand grip is a pull-up, underhand is a chin-up. Read a book to failure instead retard.

I prefer chins (underhand) because biceps
Pull ups (overhand) are probably "better" though because let's face it everybody hits their biceps enough already by doing hundreds of curls a week. Lats often don't get hit much because people do a lot of barbell rows and deadlifts for their back. Maybe chins are better for beginners doing starting strength or something with very little arm work.

Pull-ups hurt my shoulders like a bitch though. I prefer using a neutral grip and a medium width.
>>
>>37339840

Wrong, retard. Chin-ups have a higher lat-activation. They are generally speaking superior to pull-ups, even for back-activation.

Chins actually have more lat activation than biceps. Not by much, but still.

I have read that a few times but I don't feel it personally. I know the "wide grip pull ups for lats" thing is a meme but I think it's true, for me at least.

speak for yourself, i fucking hate doing curls and do at most 3 sets whenever i do them
>>
>>37339867

Strengthening my grip and biceps made me feel the lats more. They are the first thing to give in now. I get insane lat-doms from weighted chin-ups, but pull-ups not so much.

Pls be in Copenhagen so I can fuck you in your boipussy twinky-boi
>>
>>37339875
So what do you do for biceps? Are they already big enough that you don't care, or do you just hit them through chins?
>>
>>37339875
same here

I do like 6 sets of curls a week max, sometimes just 3

fuck curls, I hit them enough with back exercises or forearm isos

Chinups, the palms facing you variation, not a native speaker so bear with me.
>why
A bit longer lat ROM
A ton more bicep activation
More musculature used => more weight moved => better hypertrophy and strength gain potential
Pullups (palms away) are literally kicking you out of your gains by making the excercise artificially harder.
Just like squatting atg in flat shoes. It's still a squat, you still make gains, but oly lifting shoes are objectively better because they allow for more knee flexion, since ankle flexibility is no longer a limiting factor.
