So /fit/, how do I find a doctor that lifts or at least understands lifters and athletes? I want to see a doctorbut I also don't wsnt to bullshit about my BMI, how I shouldn't squat or deadlift, "you took how many scoops!?", etc.
How do I find Dr. Swole?
What do you need a doctor for?

Also if you have any funny Dr. DYEL stories, I wanna hear them.

I'm getting older and I'd like to know how the wear and tear is progressing. I have a couple of nonlifting related shoulder injuries, uneven legs, and some of the conventional wisdom about certain exercises hurts me, etc. Lots of shit.
Why would you assume doctors are retarded? Do you think they're going to look at your BMI and call you fat without actually looking at you? Do you suppose medical professionals are unaware of the difference between muscle and fat?
Maybe you shouldn't bother with a doctor given how much more you know about health and physiology than they do.

This
medical doctors know their shit

Ask a physio
>>37264838
Because I've had casual conversations with med students and a couple of doctors on the subject and I found their opinions unsettling. Other people's stories of their Docs wagging a finger at their lifting doesn't help. I just think it's better to have a doctor who deals with lifters/athletes.

>every doctor is of the same quality by virtue of their earning a degree
You haven't dealt with a shitty dr, i'd bet.
>>37264838
Also, nowhere in my post did I imply that doctors are retarded or that I know more than them. It's why I'm looking for one, genius.

>ask a physio how to find a physio
> my source: wife is a primary care physician
just go fucking talk with doctors. you will find one who takes your lifestyle seriously, more often than not. there are dickheads out there who think they know better - but plenty can be rational and adjust their expectations to their patients.
that being said, some unknown doctor has told a friend that "we evolved as distance runners" (which is true), where Doc then used that as a basis to devalue resistance training.

Oh okay, well if you're talking about med students and non-specialists I'd guess they're most likely to encounter lifting in the context of "I injured myself lifting" and have understandable if inflated misgivings about it. As >>37264865 said, you're looking for a physiotherapist. So ask to be referred to one, or whatever works wherever the fuck you are.
Find a doctor that coaches sports team
basically any larger city will have a bunch, since all those local soccer/baseball/basketball/whatever thing is popular in your area/etc need someone.
In med school now, there are a ton of lifters. The stereotype though is that orthopedic surgeons are the "meathead" type.
But seriously a lot of us lift. Or at least they used to and got too busy
Find a physio that works in a sportcentre
Find a physio that works with american football/rugbyteams
Check physio websites, -> "about us" and see if the physios have an affinity with weightlifting
google is your friend
