Are rest days a meme?

Yes, one that's worked for a century.

Rest days from lifting? Depends what routine you're doing. If you're doing a legs-chest-toes-tongue-finger routine you can go infinitely without a break. Full body would definitely require a break. Those days can be used to do cardio like swimming/running/cycling.

So yeah. Rest days are a meme, there should never be a day where you do no kind of exercise unless you have a big social outing or work. Never sit at home on you're arse knowing you've done nothing for the day. Disgusting.

whats your finger routine?

i do

3xf finger curls
3x8 finger bench presses

It was a trick. The fingers themselves do not contain muscles

is life a meme?

Considering that rest days are when your actual gains happen, no, they're not a meme.

The only reason why you exercise is so you can literally break your muscle fibers, so that on rest days your body will rebuild them stronger.

If you just keep fraying them every day you will just stunt their growth, unless you're on steroids.

It depends. Some people report that splitting the same volume over more sessions is good. It's plausible that muscle groups need their at least 48h rest, but that doesn't mean you can't train something else in the meatime. Like, do one of the big lifts every day. I'm considering a BP-Squat-OHP-DL-Row each exercise on its own day, problem is I'd like to do rows but I don't want to do 4 days of rest between doing the same exercise again.
