How fat would you have to be to have all kinds of loose skin after losing weight like pic related?
>>
>>37166374

bump
>>
>>37166374
how old are you?
>>
>>37166374
over 300lbs, for an average mle
>>
>>37166670
Would it happen to someone at 230?
>>
>>37166694
most likely not. if you do get some loose skin, it should be very minimal if you're young.

you could have severe loose skin from being 230 if you're like 5'1 or something though
>>
>>37166694
I was at 280 at my worst. Weigh 180 now. 20 pounds to go. Its gonna be okay I think.

The key is to do it super slow. Ive been losing weight for 4 years. Dont deflate like a balloon or you'll look like a deflated balloon
>>
>>37166670
>300lbs +

I was going to say just this number .

If you're like 250 lbs at 6' you could get away with it.
>>
>>37166694
I was 250 at 5'11" and have zero loose skin.
>>
>>37166778
How fast did you lose?
>>
>>37166874
100 pounds in 2 years but it makes no difference. The speed at which you do it is a meme
>>
>>37166960
Yeah that is just false. There's a limit to how fast stretched skin can tighten up (if it will, at all) and if you lose fat faster than that, you're gonna have loose skin
>>
Probably not a number but if you're 30%+ body fat and the weight loss happens quickly
>>
Really depends on height and fat deposition genetics. If you store all your fat in your tits and gut, it's gonna be worse than if it's spread out more. I am 200lbs, was 300 3 years ago and have significant loose skin on my midsection. Muscle development has benefited my most with filling/getting rid of it.
>>
If you weigh about twice what you are supposed to and then lose the excess fat, you will look like that, or slightly worse. So if you go from 340 to your ideal wight of 170, sure, expect lose skin. But a ton of people on /fit/ have lost 100 lb or more without having anywhere near that level of loose skin. Look for the recovering fatass threads. Unless you are in your late 30s or older, your skin has a certain amount of elasticity to it and will actually recover from being stretched out a lot better than you'd think. Especially if you don't have a ton of stretch marks.

A lot of people are terrified of loose skin and I suspect it limits their fat loss, or at least gives them an excuse to not live up to their fat loss potential. Don't fall into that trap, anon. Most loose skin is scarcely noticeable.

>>37166670
This doesn't answer the principle of the question, or even try to.
>>
>>37167289
which is why i said for an "average" male. 5'10 320+ lbs and you WILL have loose skin, it is almost inevitable

5'7", I weight about 240. Yeah I'm fat but I'm naturally stocky and have a decent build underneath the fat. If I slowly lose the fat, will I still have loose skin? Pic is me
>>
I started at 270 and I want to get down to 170-180 (I'm 5'10").

I'm assuming I'm going to have some loose skin, especially since I'm hoping to get down under 200 by the end of the year.

My question is- does that loose skin go away eventually after a couple years if you keep the weight off? Or is it there pretty much for good.

25 years old by the way.
>>
drink too much water to stop the extra skin. im down 65lbs since nov. no extra skin at all.

Technically you could be 350+lbs or more but if you lost the weight slow enough and gave your skin time that probably would not happen to you.

It also depends on height and BF%

General rule would probably be like 300+lbs. I have an old buddy who was 5"9 at like 300lbs and he's shredded as fuck now, huge motivation and no loose skin so it's different for everybody.

Loose skin is really only a factor if you are morbidly obese and dropping the weight really fast.
>>
>>37167837
How much water do you drink per day? I get almost 4 liters most day.
>>
>>37167850
Ive been drinking at the very least 1 gallon. 1.5 is about average. It also helps curb your hunger. Goodluck bud, you got this.
>>
>>37167774
Salvagable but please tell me you've at least already started lifting and eating at a deficit
>>
>>37167774
When the far on your stomach starts to hang over your hips, is called a panus. You have one, you're definitely over 30% body fat
In all likelihood yes you'll have loose skin, but you'll never known until you work in it
>>
>>37167774
I went from 280 to 185 over the course of 2.5 years and have some loose skin. I think it's gonna happen no matter what but you can minimize it by going slow and steady
>>
Depends on general skin elasticity/skin thickness
It's not even how high the weight is generally just how fast you lose it
Someone who's 140lbs but goes to 90lbs in a few months would have loose skin.
There's a point where your skin elasticity extends beyond the point of no return that even if you lose weight slowly it'll still result in loose skin but I'd say that weight would be upwards of high 300s
>>
I'm 6'3 and down 265 to 180 lbs since late October and I barely have any extra skin
I just drank massive amounts of water

I'm also 19 so that might be a factor
>>
>>37167891
~285 to (currently) 190 in ~8 months. Also have some loose skin.
>>
>>37167874
i looked similar to OP but my guy doesn't hang, it just protrudes over my pants a bit. I've also been cutting & lifting for a few months, one thing I've noticed as I thin out that my gut lifts and flattens itself out. not sure if it'll end in stretchmarks but thats what I've noticed so far starting @ 5'9 & 240lbs

>tfw currently losing weight and will have disgusting stretch marks and loose skin

It kinda hurts thinking about it. But at least I won't be a fatass anymore. Was 300lbs, gone down to 260 these last 5 months. Could probably have lost more, but I kept falling off the wagon. But I climbed right back up whenever it happend, and it gets a little easier each time.
>>
>>37167774
Shit this is basically me
>>
>>37167820
Rule of thumb is the skin will revert back in however many years it was stretched for to begin with. If you were fat for 10 years it will take 10 years to get back to normal.
>>
>>37168128
I was a tad over 270 and im now 218 with a 170ish goal. I have no loose skin but my stretch marks are still there.

Feels bad knowing itl probs look like shit but looking like shit is better then feeling like shit.
>>
I'm 18, 220 lbs and 5 '9

Will I get loose skin if I drop to like 170?
>>
From what I've seen, loose skin looks to be mostly genetics.

I was 263

5'11

I just a few stretch marks
>>
>>37168454
he talkin about loose skin bruh
I started at 245>-180 now no loose skin, stretch marks on arms, lower stomach, legs tho, but they are old ones.
also 5'11
>>
6'3 was 290 at 213 currently i have a little loose skin. on my way to 190 tho i hope it doesnt get to bad tho before i leave for the navy.
>>
>>37166694
I was at 210, then cut to 160. I had a fair amount of loose skin (not nearly as much as pic), then I bulked to 175 and it became almost negligible, except from over my stomach.

Also don't let fear of loose skin stop you from being healthy, that's a bitch ass move.

Nah brah, there's a limit to how much loose skin can retract. Skin will actually tighten up faster if you have less fat - it clings to the muscles instead of the lard.

>>37166374

Basically 100+ pounds. It also depends on how long you've been overweight, and how old you are.

The real thing you've got to look for is if you already have the flaps. Rolls can bounce back, folds will hang loose.

>Pic related

If your body fat is stored like the body on the left, you're good. If you're like the figure on the right, start saving for surgery now.
>>
I went from 235 to 170ish in 6 months and the only bit of excess skin is on my gut. I still have 15-20 pounds to lose before I feel comfortable but it looks better everyday.
>>
>>37168437
>mfw you dont realize 6'5 isnt average
>>
I was 360 at my fattest. I'm 195 and still fat. I have loose skin. Better than being 360.
>>
I was 265 at my heaviest at 5'9"
I got down to 175 over a year and I'm fucking covered in loose skin, looks like I'm melting. Stretch marks all over the fucking place too. I should have just killed myself instead of losing the weight.
>>
>>37166374
The usually cited number is around 300lbs at average height (5'11") for when you have to start worrying.

The number-1 way to reduce it is to gain as much muscle as possible during the drop.

>>37168925
Most of it should bounce back eventually. If it doesn't after 5 years, go see a doctor and get surgery.
Shit's fixable, even though surgery sucks.

>The number-1 way to reduce it is to gain as much muscle as possible during the drop.
Wouldn't gaining after the drop work as well?
>>
>>37168291
I'd rather have stretch marks than loose skin tho. Might have both tho
>>
>>37169337
Only sort-of: gaining after will partly fill the loose skin, but gaining during works by keeping the overall support in place longer (ie replacing the fat under the skin with muscle instead of nothing at all: creating a more "bulgy" shape rather than loose folds like >>37168842 said). Muscle also has high energy and oxygen demands and is much more vascular than thick fat, so skin on top of muscle will tend to be healthier and more elastic than skin on a pannus (better nutrient supply).

That's why bodybuilders who get huge on gear rarely have to worry about it when they lose gains despite stretching their skin just as bad (look at their stretch marks).
