I've only trained rugby casually 3 times a week for a couple of years. Also eaten donuts, candy and all kinds of junk food. Going for alot more strength and maybe some nice nice muscles now, I don't want to look like some "meh" built guy anymore. I'm thinking of cutting and doing the Rippetoe's starting strength program. Would this be a good start?

Don't estimate based on the abs, I've never trained them so I'd have to go seriously low before they showed.

Between calipers, tape measures, and online calculators, I've had the results to be anything between 5-9%, but who knows. I get 4mm with the calipers on my abdominals, 2mm on my chest, but it's difficult to measure all the locations. I'd have to get a proper water test to know for sure.

Either way, I'm cutting to as low bf as I can by the end of the month.

My brothers say I'm skinny as shit and need to bulk, but honestly I feel better than ever, and I lift the same as I did when I weighed a shitload more. So I think I'm gonna keep cutting until it has a negative effect on me. Looking to go down to around 150lbs or even 145lbs.

Been lifting arund 2 1/2 years. Started at 15, now 18 (Might look older cos I'm a hairy motherfucker).
My routine when I started was 6 days a week going crazy and shieeet. But then after 6 months or so i got burnt out. Then I just stuck to 3 days a week, splitting back/bi's, chest/tri's and legs/shoulders.
However, for the past year or so I've only been doing a back sessions with 30 minutes of cardio after. Then a couple hours of cardio wherever I can fit in the week, and a leg session at the end of the week. I've been doing this whilst cutting all this time, and I haven't lost any strength (actually gained some weight in a few lifts).
I started this because I injured my shoulder and decided to lay off exercises which affect my shulder for a while, but now I don't even wanna go back to those exercises.
This helped me learn that compound lifts are all you need, along with a couple of isolation excersises here and there.
There were periods where I would cut and almost reach my goal and then I would bulk again until I was fat as fuck, so I gained muscle, strength and a shitload of fat. Recently, I decided to cut until I had fuck all fat, cos I was sick of looking like a fatass at times. Now once I've reached my goal, I will bulk very very slowly, like 1lbs gained a month or so.
Anyways, different things work for different people, but I feel that compound lifts for back and legs, with a lot of cardio has made me feel the fittest I've ever felt in my life.

Here's my shit body. Bf%? Like 5'8" 157 with some dinner bloat but fuck it. I've been working out since I was I was a little kid, had numerous hard labour jobs since I was 13 years old until now in my late 30's and I look fit.

My BMI is 25.

I've always felt inferior and weak because of the way fat people paint a picture about how much they hate skinny people. This is exacerbated by the emphasis huge conglomerates like MacDonald's and kfc, wendys etc put on skinny shaming.

The fact of the matter is, there is a healthy weight to be. And we all know what that is. Also, there is a healthy amount of strength to have, which is as necessary part of being a man in general. Fitting a kitchen, fixing a motorcycle, cuddling your wife.

No amount of muscles will make you a man.

You have to be a man.

That's a tough question.

If you feel like you naturally have a slower metabolism, and therefore find it easier to gain weight I suggest you eat normally but up your protein intake.

You need to strike a balance between carbs and protein.

If you're exercising hard every day then eat whatever the fuck you want. But get lots of protein rich foods in like tuna fish and milk and plenty of sleep in between.

If you're hungry ,eat. Eat mostly protein if you want muscle. Fish, milk, eggs etc. They don't convert to fat so as many as you want.

If you're sat on yer ass doing nothing then don't eat any of those things.
