I've become convinced that there's some sort of barbell cabbala going on at my gym.

Actually, I go to two different gyms and it's the same thing at both. I always load the same weights for my lifts, but sometimes they feel e-Z-p-Z and other times I have difficulty completing them (not accounting for upgrades obviously, I'm talking within a 2 day interval at the same weight). I thought this just depended on how I felt that day, how much sleep I had gotten, etc. but today I switched barbell mid-sets and, whereas I was barely able to complete my reps on the first barbell, I had an easier time after I switched. Now mind you, these two barbells looked pretty much exactly the same, but obviously there was a significant weight difference between them.

I don't know what's going on exactly but obviously there's some kind of Jewish masterplan at work here, right? There are absolutely no weight indication on any of the barbells, so I always just assumed they were regular 20kg bars, but I've got a mind to take them out of the weight room, weigh them on the locker room scale and mark them with a sharpie so I don't get tricked anymore.

The second gym I go to also has a bunch of different barbells with no numbers on them, except that some have different color tape on them, while others have nothing. What the fuck is going on and why are the jews doing this to me? Please help.

Fucking Jews. They're really getting involved in gym culture in recent times. Fucking annoying desu senpai
>>
My gym has barbells that are different thicknesses. I won't use the thicker ones
>>
Probably easier to bring your own scale to your gym.

I had the same situation. There was this really girthy black bar at my gym that just felt so heavy. But it weighed 45lbs. I guess the rod was heavy but the part that holds the weight was shallow and light while other bars had weight distribution in other ways.

This happened to me dude. It's real, it's not in your head.

I've gone to like 5 different gyms within the span of 6 months. All 5 of them I have gone to on several occasions. 3 of them had this barbell that seemed to add like 20lbs to all my lifts, 2 of them had this really nice barbell that made me feel incredibly strong. I don't know if it's the grip circumference, spin, weight distribution, or what but something is seriously fucking up my numbers. All of the barbells felt the same weight.
>>
bump we need to talk about this

one of you knows how these bars are made, fucking fess up, what's going on
>>
Technique or junior weightlifting bars with short collars like in OP are often made of aluminium and weigh 10kg. They're used so you can learn technique on lifts with very low weight.

Women's weightlifting bars weight 15kg, and have a slightly smaller diameter (25mm)

Men's weightlifting bars and most standard Olympic and power bars weight 20kg and have a 27-29mm knurling

Other than that you can get 25 and 30 kg squat bars that are thick as for 1000+ lbs. Speciality bars will almost always have a different weight, safety squat bars can be 30kg or more
>>
>>37082006

And you also get deadlift bars, which are just close enough to be mistaken for regular bars but will royally fuck with anyone using one by mistake.
>>
Pretty sure they do make women's weightlifting barbells that are 35 pounds. Besides that, all are 45 but obviously some has their weight more distributed than others which might effect you be longer
>>
>>37079895
You're right Op, it's true.

At my school gym we got 2 different bars for bench press, one bar i can press 1plate ezpz, with the other bar 1plate legit feels like 155lbs with the other bar, i think they mix up different bars for deadlifts or squats as the normal press bars, it's messed up.
>>
>>37082074

how does a deadlift bar and normal press bar differ?
>>
>>37082086
Some companies sell speciaize bars that for some unknown reason weigh heavier for the marketing purpose or legit purpose of HEY THIS IS A DEADLIFT BAR IT'S BETTER FOR DEADLIFTS, same thing with squat bars.

Differ by weigh or slighty by dimension or knnurling or color or bending
>>
>>37082086

Deadlift bars are slightly longer and thinner than a regular barbell, with larger sleeves. They hold slightly more plates, have really strong knurling and tend to bend an awful lot during lifts.

Squat bars are the same length as regular 20kg barbells, but they're heavier (usually 25kg rather than 20), thicker and super aggressive on the grip (try deadlifting with one of these and it'll likely try and tear your calluses clean off). Because of the extra weight and thickness they bend much less than regular barbells.

Those are both really rare to see outside of specialist gyms though.

Reality is unless its a oly weightlifting gym they just throw out anything for ppl to throw weight on and change their bodies
>>
>tfw my gym only uses Eleiko barbells which have an error margin of 6 grams or something

I swear if I find out my lifts are 10kg better than I thought they were because of jewish tricks I'm firing up the chambers

How the fuck am I supposed to get better if I can't lift a consistent amount of weight?

women's bar vs texas squat bar

>tfw bars in my gym are now 25kg because they had to fix them and add some metal piece. fucking fagots that trow the bar while doing deadlifts, if you have to throw it you are to weak!

Work up to a 1RM every day with three attempts, then train based on that day's 1RM per Prilepin's chart
>>
>>37079895
Barbells are different. Even if they weigh the same (which they dont always do), they are different thickness, have varying degrees of whip, different knurlings/markings. Any of these things can make a significant difference. For instance, you will probably get a deadlift off the floor easier with a bar with high whip, and you will likely be able to press more with a thicker bar. If the markings on the bar are an inch further apart than you are accustomed to, you are using different leverages if you are using those markings as a point of reference for your grip, so it will feel different. Either try use the same bar each time or stop worrying and just lift desu
>>
>>37087279
The problem are the retards that do rack pulls off the safeties and slam the bar down. Dropping a deadlift shouldn't hurt the bar. Maybe the floor and/or the plates.
>>
>>37087360

but it does hurt the bar, it breaks the screw holding the rotating piece, I have seen the fucking broken screw, it also fucks up the bearings and internal screw thread. whole fucking floor shakes when some fag drops 250kg
