How many pullups/chinups can you guys perform?
My PR is 10 in one "sitting" and 100 over the course of one afternoon.
Both as chinups.
>>
10 chin-ups
6 pull-ups

I weigh 205lbs. This thread is useless without bodyweight really. Skeletons will always have the better numbers.
>>
I've done 10 as well, but only neutral grip. I have a hard time even getting 5 with regular grip or chinups
>>
>>37047693
What is "neutral" grip? Sorry, but I'm not a native enlgish speaker.

I don't do a lot of pullups because of my shit wrists. chin ups feel way better, better ROM too
>>
>>37047711

Neutral = hammer grip
>>
>>37047762
Ah, I see.
And you perform most with that grip? I find it easier using regular grip.

I can do up to 15 pull ups in one set

For some reason I have a really hard time doing more than one set with high reps, 3x12 is impossible for me unless I take a long ass rest in between. I have an easier time doing 3x8 + 35lbs than 3x12 with bodyweight only(170).

Most I've ever done was 100 pull ups over the course of just over an hour, I had to mix and match pull ups and chin ups with all different sorts of grips to pull it off though.
>>
>>37047789
not that guy but neutral and chinup works extension more, it's a major function of the lat
with overhand grip, a little wider than shoulders you work adduction, the other major function.
It's best to do both adduction and extension work to get big and strong lats
for example
>weighted chinups, 3x6 (extension)
and
>overhand lat pulldown 3x10 (adduction)

or
>weighted pullups 3x6-8 (adduction)
and
>close grip pulldown 3x10 (extension

Has anyone found their pullup/chinup PR decreasing as you put on weight? I’m 68kg not that heavy and I can manage around 20 of each in a sitting but I know people more bigger built then me who can barely do 10 pullups and claim it's their weight thats the problem.

this, gymbro was being a faggot a few weeks ago and laughed at me for only being able to do more than 9 chins while he could do about double that. i let it go but he brought it up several times so the next time we were working out and he mentioned it i went and got a 16kg dumbbell and told him to put it between his feet (actually i weigh about 20kg more than him) and do some chins, he couldn't do any and he was pretty quiet for the rest of the workout. maybe it was a dick move but he deserved it.
>>
>>37048064
It is
I'm 90kg and I can do 19-20 full range pullups in one go but it took me a lot of time and work to reach this level, when my friend who's 71kg could do 20 easily long before I could

well no shit retard

>has anyone found the number of reps they can do on bench decrease as they put on weight?

more weight means more weight, chances are they weigh a good 20kg more than you. you try doing some chinups with 20kg added.

I was able to do two pullups yesterday. I couldn't do a single pullup for first month of working out and dieting. The fact that I finally managed to do it, is huuge confidence boost and motivator to keep going.
I will now add pullups to my routine, and see if I can get up to 5 pullups by end of May.
>>
>>37048417
Normal grip pullups are harder than neutral grip which are harder than chin ups. That being said they do utilize different muscles, with the chin utilizing more of the arms than the back versus the normal double overhand pullup.

I did 29 chinups about 3 years ago, but I haven't done them in a long time; I only do pullups nowadays. I can do maybe 25, it's been while since I tested my maximum reps. With additional weight I can do 6 or 7 reps with 20 kilos, so I guess my 1rm is well over 30 kg. I weigh 69 kilos myself.

My goal is to just reach an unassisted 1. Been working at for about a month now but it's hard because I'm 6'3" and still mostly a fat ass.

>>37050560

You can keep the grip on your chin ups as narrow as you please, it's not bad for you. The narrower you go, the more emphasis it puts on your biceps, as opposed to your lats. I usually go a bit narrower than shoulder width.
>>
>>37050297
I lifted alot of wood.

>>37050324
I lean the ladder agains a wall (there are hooks in the wall that keep the ladder in place). If you don't have hooks ask someone to hold the ladder for you.
Then you just grab a bar that has the right hight from underneath and do chinups.

I train weighted pullups and chinups as a normal exercise on a 3x5 type AxBxxA type full body schedule with 2.5 lb linear progression.

DAILY REMINDER

"Pullups work the back more and chinups work the arm more" is a meme--chinups are an all around superior exercise and work both arms and back better than pullups. All pullups do is put you at a mechanical disadvantage and force you to utilize less muscle mass.

I can only do 5 pullups.
Although I usually do them after I bench just for fun.

so which one should i be doing then?

Lol wat?

It's my one thing man, let me have it!
>>

This seriously, one thing curls are useful for are chin ups they will become extremely easy. If you maintain a steady program and are below say 12% body fat, you should be able to do 25 in 2-3 months. I can do 35.
>>
>>37049980
>>37050054
He can't even do one yet. I would keep doing that machine at the gym until you can manage one good unassisted one, then once you can do this start doing negative reps, you can google them.
>>
>>37050192
I was a skelly with natural talent and could do 15 from nothing. Only weighed 125 pounds at 5'10" when I started though, definitely much easier if you are skinny.

Geez my dude just do pull-ups at the gym. I can understand spaghetti, but you have to understand that's what gyms are for. Don't worry about people looking at you funny, you're not there to impress anyone, you're there to better yourself
>>
I can do 10 neutral grip, less for inward vs outward grip

I really like neutral grip and they feel a lot easier to do but some people apparently find them more difficult
>>
>>37047677
186 (6.1')cm, chinups 12 and pullups like 7 lol and 198 pounds
>>
6'2" 185 lb. Started at 0, doing negative pull ups because lmaoskellymode and even then could only do 5 or so. Shit was hard as fuck. Worked my way up and now I can do 13. Starting weighted pull ups now. Feels good brehs.
>>
12 pullups @ 180lb
6 w/ 6kg dumbbell

only just started doing weighted, they are hard as fuck.
>>
>>37055910
I did, overhand pullups would hurt my elbow like all fuck. switched out to lat pulldowns wide grip for 3-4 weeks. then swapped back to pullups for a few weeks, noticed a little bit of soreness in the middle of one session and stopped straight away, back to lat pulldowns for another few weeks. then back to pullups, they've been good ever since.

big thing with tendonitis and similar injuries is to be really careful and patient. if you push through the pain you can turn a few weeks of recovery into months or even a year. if lat pulldown hurts to, stop. only do what you can. I've seen guys with issues like this (shin splints) that tried to soldier on and ended up wth stress fractures that had them out for years.

24 pullups is my pr

I do 5-8 with 45lbs on me

only 1-3 with 60lbs

I'm a rock climber so it's something I'm working on
>>
Only 3x3.

Just a few months ago, though, I couldn't even do one. So I'm making progress.
>>
>>37047677
i think about 25-30 for chinups and about 20-25 for pullups. Realistically i never go that high. Dunno about hammer grip.
Most of the time i do anywhere between 6 and 10 with additional weight, currently with 20 kg.
175 cm\ 78 kg.
>>
>>37050401
Good luck, keep posting progress. When you do it start a dedicated thread.

Been a while since I did bodyweight pullups.
Overhand - 36 with wide grip.
Underhand - 52.
5'11, 140lb. I'm pretty scrawny.

I'm stalled at 10

5x5 pullups bodyweight (190 lbs)

I'm going to start adding weight but I'm too cheap to get a vest or belt, guess I'll try holding a dumbbell between my feet.

I could barely do 10 pullups with 150 lbs of assist this time last year
>>
>>37050083
im fat as fuck ,m8 and can do 9 pullups
115 kg body weight ,also dead hang and no kiping
>>
>>37047677
I know I can do at least 20 reps of both at 67-68kg bodyweight. Day before I did 70kg weighted chinup form was sloppy though. Today I tried weighted 60kg pullup didn't quite get chin above bar. I think I've done 80 chinups/pullups in a little over 1h.
>>
>>37047677
20 pull ups at 185 lbs bw.
3x5 with 80 lbs added.

PR is 30, can only manage 15-20 these days
>>
>>37061853

60kg/133lbs
>>
pull ups 15
weight 97kg, could do 15 pull ups at 104kg aswell
>>
Haven't tested chin up max.
Bodyweight pull ups 9 is my PR, but usually can do about 6 in one go.
Did 2 reps with +11kg (25lbs) back in January, but that was just larking about seeing what I could do.
Bodyweight: 75kg (169lbs) currently, was about 71kg in Jan.

I always find the first 2/3 reps really easy when doing pull ups, then after that each rep becomes a struggle. Likewise with sets, I often find myself ending up doing 6/5/4 etc.
What's the best way to improve my muscular endurance in my lats? I've been trying less than bodyweight pull downs for 8+ reps, focussing on squeezing the lats each rep. Anything I can do on top/instead of this, or should I just keep going?
Also should I do pull ups more often, or less often but higher volume?

8 pull ups

Never been good at them, but I guess it's decent.

>>37047677
3x15 wide grip pullups (bw 180lb) or 3x5 with 45lb every second workout. I was using a chain to hang the weight. Its starting to dig in so I'm gonna hold off on weighted till I get a decent belt.

I find neutral grip easiest by far. Chins bug my wrists some.
>>
>>37059141
Loop a chain through your oly plates. Works well till you get too heavy and it starts to dig into your waist.
>>
>>37047677

22 pull ups
at least 30 chin ups. haven't really tried more because they are too easy to do and I have far better exercises to build my biceps

I don't do weighted ones because I'd have to ask the gym personnel
>>
>>37062329
post pic pls
>>
>>37048781
Majority of weight lifting excersizes don't do shit for the muscle responsible for pullups, in particular the ones in upper part of the forearm. Latteral pulldown, and reverse curls help a lot with developing that. particularly reverse curls, with barbell.
