I'd recommend getting yourself a nice medium roast. Buy from a local coffee shop and have them grind it for you (grounds are only good like a week max, 48 hours ideally). Brew a pour-over (brews a very light, easy to drink cup) with something simple like a Melitta Cone ($7 and $0.07 per filter) or a Clever Dripper ($20 but fool proof). You would need a kettle or pitcher or something, though, to pour water over the grounds.
Don't be afraid to mix it with milk, first. People jerk it to projecting their masculinity by drinking coffee black, but it IS an acquired taste. Even then, I still prefer my daily brew with steamed milk because it's honestly just more pleasant if you're just drinking it to casually enjoy it.
Heat the milk up, though. Cold milk is stupid. Also maybe use half and half because it's actually creamy.
