THe front squat, along with the power snatch and incline bench are the tripartite of athletic power.
Obviously if you're not an athlete and just want to develop a body you like the look of, then just use machines and diet.
But if you want to be a beast ahtlete you better be doing those front squats.

They are the same exercise when it comes to upper body pushing development. But one is much easier to maintain correct form and therefore, measure progression.
