Idk, maybe 20 right now. Most I've ever done was 20, but I'm significantly stronger right now. Best weighted 1rm is 115 lbs.

Did 60 reps with 35 lbs added tonight. I do them in triples, one set per minute, for 20 minutes. It's a good way to get in a lot of volume quickly.

30+ never really maxed out bodyweight pull ups but I usually work with 80lbs on a belt and do 3 sets of 10.

Do you think doing them weighted helps increase the amount of unweighted reps you can do?

Yes, but not as much as doing a bunch of unweighted reps. If you want to do a fuck load of pull-ups, you need to be doing a fuck load of pull-ups sometimes. I haven't doing high numbers of unweighted reps recently. Just like 5x5 with 70 lbs and my 20 minute routine and other gay shit like that.

After seeing the others post (assuming they're serious) i would mention that I rock climb once a week and have access to a treadwall I use 5+ times a week.

Are chins and pulls a good replacement for lat pull down or should I do both?

Any answer will be pointless unless it's specified how exactly these pull-ups are performed.

Range of motion, bottom part, easiest to hardest:
>slight elbowbend
>full extension
>dead hang

Range of motion, top part, easiest to hardest:
>chin to bar
>chin over bar
>clavicles to bar
>chest to bar
>nipples to bar
>sternum to bar

Grip position, easiest to hardest:
>close, neutral
>close, supinated
>medium, neutral
>medium, supinated
>close, pronated
>medium, pronated
>wide, neutral
>wide, pronated

And even with the above in mind, other things come into play such as tempo, kipping, strength of contraction and more.
Also I'd like to add that there are many ways to do a pull-up and one isn't necessarily more "correct" than another. The important part is that your technique refects your goals. This is true for almost any exercise.
