Wide hips + small waist looks worse than wide hips + wide waist in my opinion. I'd rather be fridgemode than have an hourglass figure.

I'd say deadlift to fill out the core but don't squat so much, so as not to get wide quads and make the lower body worse. And like you said, focus on back and shoulder development most.

I'm at like 15% body fat right now. Is there a way to know if I'll have curves above my hips just like OP does if I lower my body fat even more? Because if I will I will either not cut further or go for fridge mode. I highly suspect that I have wide hips but I've never been skinny enough to be sure.

What's the secret to attaining fridge mode? I'm talking about filling the curvy areas above the hips just like in OP's picture and by fridge mode I mean something like Ryan Gosling's body. I'd much rather have a V taper but I don't really have a choice here.

Basically what you need to do is

>Shit ton of lat/back exercises
>Bulk
>Steroids
>Pray to god your shoulders aren't naturally narrow as this might make it impossible.

Building a great body is about proportions. If your body is too big in one area (for example hips) you need to balance that shit out. If you cant shrink your hips (obviously impossible) you need to balance it out by bringing everything else up.

In OP's case that means stop cutting, start perma bulking, start doing shit tons of back exercises, and use roids. Nattybrahs might also be fucked but Idk

I think the way to do it is to expand the ribcage, there is supposedly some method (pullovers?) to expand it - Arnold used it, I think it was popular with older bodybuilders.

It isn't that they fill the area by adding muscle, it's that they (according to Arnold and some others) expand the ribcage. That has the side-effect of filling in the area because it pulls the skin of that area up and tight.

Looks pretty good and he's fridge mode and even most Hercules's statues have him as fridge mode but with nicely wide shoulders, which I also have.

the costal cartilage (which is the thing you'd be trying to stretch) doesn't ossify (harden into bone) until the early twenties on average, although apparently there's a lot of variation between indviduals as to when it hardens. It might well work for you, but from what I can see it seems like it works for some people and not for others.

Guys with wide hips never have a v-taper, they're either x-type body or fridgemode depending on the size of the ribcage. At the moment if you change nothing you're x-type. What I think expanding the ribcage will do (if you can do it) is fill out your torso to make you a fridgemode like the two guys who posted in this thread. I don't think adding muscle alone will achieve the same effect because there isn't a muscle in that area you're trying to fill. You're still young enough to do it though so it's worth trying it out. That t-nation article I posted recommends dumbbell pullovers and something called "breathing squats". There's probably a lot of advice out there if you want to try it out.

From what I can work out the obliques are below that point and the lats are above it so if you add mass on obliques and lats it will make that area more pronounced like it did on hugh jackman if you compare his physique when he had less mass to how it is now.

I think the only thing that will have a major effect is expanding the ribcage. I'm not an expert, though - I'm just passing on the conclusions I've come to in looking into it myself, so don't take it as the last word.

I'm (obviously) just average fitness, mainly because I eat everything in sight and don't into cardio or abs. I have tried to compensate for wide hips by building chest, back, arms, and shoulders. I am going to start incorporating abs and cardio to try to cut fat and trim my waistline as much as possible, but at some point your waist is going to be what it's going to be, can't shrink bone.

Also please offer advice/critique as to how I can improve, I'm just starting my cut and could use advice. I've never cut before because I was always a skinnyfag before

you need to do deadlift to strengthen the belt muscles that hold your waist in. think of it as your bodys natural weight belt. when that muscle gets stronger it will fill in the waist space you see that looks missing

Thanks man, I wish I could snap my fingers and have 3-5% less bodyfat but the same amount of muscle, just to see what it would look like. Just as a brief background: I went from 150 to 185 by lifting and eating, but recently I've hit a strength and size plateau for like the last 8 months that I'm not sure how to overcome.
