This. MMA is largely cardio/muscular endurance as opposed to strength/power. Don't get me wrong both are important but the majority of fights that go past round 1 end up coming down to who gasses first and drops their guard.
If you have ever boxed/wrestled/done MMA you would understand that just a minute or two of sparring destroys you if you aren't in shape. Think about doing that for 15 or 25 minutes.
