aside from that, the muscle needs toning. Differrent exercises make the muscle different looking. Its all to point of view. Bench press can be considered an all chest workout, incline, different grip, so on. You can be a ive-got-no-money for a squat rack type of guy.

I can leg press way more then I squat. Which I am guessing isn't a good thing. In fact leg press feels easy to do compared to the squat. Squat really takes a lot out of you. Which is why you are much better off doing squats. Your body needs it more.

I do almost exclusively leg press and my legs look fine. As long as you go deep and everything, you'll work almost the exact same muscles squats do. The hamstring curl machine can supplement this by hitting them better than squats ever could.

Well for one you don't work your stabilizers like from doing squats, another reason is your body will get used to the feeling of leg pressing and you will end up stop getting sore and progressing, and i guess another reason would be that you can't squeeze the muscles as effectively as on other exercises. But if you want to be a little bitch and just want cut legs and don't care about about size then just bike, run, and do your leg press.

You need only one.

When you are pushing on a leg press, the weight is, from a biomechanical perspective, "below" you. As a result, there is no natural tendency for your knees to collapse into valgus when pushing the weight.

When the weight is above you and you squat, you are naturally going to have some level of forward lean (yes, even in a front squat), WHILE changing the length of your quadriceps and hamstrings. As a result, your natural tendency is going to want to knock your knees together (valgus). The act of fighting to keep your legs open will work both your gluteus medius and isometrically work your adductors.

By doing the squat you will work the quads, hams, glute maximus, but also the glute medius and adductors for a thicker, more well rounded sturdy looking leg. If you were only using machines, you'd need the leg press (for quads and hams, and glute max), good-girl machine (for adductors) and bad-girl machine (for glute medius).

Squats save time and prevent potential imbalances.

Squats are awesome. They make you stronger, they burn a shit load of calories, and it's generally fun when you're able to progress and add weight to the bar.

I added leg presses as an accessory lift after three years of lifting. 3 months later and my legs looked 100 times juicier than they ever did from just squatting.

I've actually been curious about this too. I hurt something in my lower back ~5 months and it has been starting to feel better, but i cannot squat over lmao!2plate! without pain on the rise of the lift. Deadlifts haven't been giving me any issues with pain however. If i were to substitute leg press for squats and continue with deadlifts will my leg development really falter?

Personally I think standard calf raises, squats, Cossack variant squats, and side leg raises all using body weight are the key to good legs.
