I've been doing strong lifts for nearly 2 years now and I've reached the point where I don't want my squat to increase any more. I'm more interested in building my upper body, particularly my shoulders, so is switching out back squats for front squats a bad idea?

Bump

Just alternate bsck and front squats. You don't want to lose the progress you already made with back squats.
>>
>>36629033
Don't think it will affect your shoulder development
The only thing is that front squats do not active as many muscle groups as back squats in the lower body
>>
>stronglifts for 2 years
what the fuck? Stats?
>>
>>36629033
It would work just fine.

Though you could always just squat less and add more upper body work.

Doing like 5x5 squats once a week is enough to maintain strength for squats.

Currently about
Sq 100*5
Bench 70*5
DL 130
OHP 50*5
Row 70*5

I haven't linearly increased for 2 years. I've been fluctuating about those weights for the last year or so
>>
>>36629110
Maybe stop doing a beginner routine then and start a split.
>>
>>36629122
I don't actually want to get much stronger, I just do strong lifts because I have the app on my phone and its convenient. What's a good progression split?
>>
>>36629146
Just do PPL.

Bench/OHP/Inline
DL/Chins/Rows
Squat/RDL/Legpress

PPxLxPPxLx

Add abs and accessories where you want. Easy. If you wanna focus on lower body do push first, if you wanna focus on back do pull first.

>>
>>36629110
>2 plate squats
What have you been doing for 2 years? A beginner can easily reach that in 6 months.
>>
>>36629110
Hop on 5/3/1
>>
>>36629146
You are retarded. Or bait. Or both.

5/3/1 BBB instructs you to do 5x10 pullups. Good luck with that being a noob intermediate.
>>
>>36630747
Other anon here.

You are totally right. I'm lifting for less then 6 months, I'm not really strong or talented and I've had some breaks for few weeks, because of knee problems, and still I lift over 110 kg/240lbs counting in bar.
>>
>>36629110
You're trippin. You've wasted 2 years in the gym. Try again but actually be consistent and EAT this time. Count your fucking calories and eat a surplus. Your lifts are pathetic for two years progress and it's evident that you've done a lot of things wrong. Read the sticky.
>>
>>36629110
Please tell me these are kilos and not pounds. I do the same after a month of lifting.
>>
>>36629197
id put the dl to legs for the leg press and spare the restday to make it pplpplx.
>>
>>36629122
hope your dont mean the fiveday brosplit
>>
>>36629033
Do zercher squats, you will find good upper back and biceps time under tension with them.

>I've been doing SL for 2 years
>I squat 100kg
How the fuck even
>>
>>36632289
What if they are pounds? WHAT IF THEY ARE POUNDS!?
>>
>>36630912
then perhaps don't do the bbb variant of 531? not that hard buddy
>>
>>36632553
That's the only strength+size variant, the others are only for strength, and as an intermediate you want to focus on size, as your initial cns gains have worn out already, you need more mass to keep gaining strength.
>>
>>36632582
the dude squats 100x5 and benched 70x5. he could still gain mass even doing 531: I'm Not Doing Jack Shit. He has long ways to go.

but you're still wrong. you don't need to keep adding mass to build strength.

OP said he was specifically interested in building upper body mass.
