How much can you OHP /fit/?

Whatwould be respectable 1RM considering my bodyweight?
>>
OP here, weighting 80kg, can do 77,5 for one rep.. Excepting it to stall, cutting cals atm
>>
>>36591387
bw OHP should be considered strong
>>
1plate 2rep max.. hurts
>>
>>36591399
that's pretty good m80
I weigh 100 and my best axle push press (I don't really like pressing with a normal bar, hurts my wrists for some reason) is 110kg, strict 85kg.
>>
Anyone else having major lower back pains while doing OHP?

I think my lower back my be underdeveloped, would straight leg deadlift help besides regular dl? I know they are more of a leg excersise..
>>
62.5x5 at 75
1rep could be like 70? idk
>>
>>36591424
remember to put your head forward and squeeze glutes as the bar goes up, it'll reduce you leaning back and curving your spine
>>
>>36591424
you're probably just leaning back too much at the top of the lift.
>>
>>36591441
>>36591446

Yeah i couldn't control leaning with serious weights, will squeeze my glutes more next time
>>
>>36591415
I'd really fix that issue not just avoid it m8, but cool stats bro.
>>
My best 1RM at a BW of 100 kg is 72.5 kg.
It's not a lift I train very often, though - The ceiling in my gym is so low that I have to take the bar outside to press without the plates hitting it.
>>
>>36591721
>ceiling so low you can't even lift a bar above your head
jesus fucking christ anon, either you're a gigantic lanklet or you're in a gym for hobbits
>>
A bodyweight OHP is what I think everybody should aim for. Most people treat the OHP like a less important assistance lift and as a result never get close to their potential. Back in the day, everybody used to be able to press some serious weights overhead.

If my book, if you're nearing a BW OHP then you can officically say that you lift. When you hit BW you're good. More than BW and it's impressive.

>>36591424
You need to squeeze your glutes so hard that if I were to put a piece of coal between your buttcheeks it'd come out as a 14 carat diamond. Tense your abs as well - imagine there's a thread between your sternum and your pubic bone. Don't let this thread become longer.
>>
Don't go for 1Rms on OHP, big chance you'll snap your back srs.

i stopped after reaching 80kg, now i just go low weight high reps.
>>
>>36591387

Bw 83 and can do 50kg for 3 reps. Currently deloaded a bit. Liftan for 3 years. Doing ohp for 1 year on and off. 2 times a week
>>
>>36591387

can do 30.5kg 5x5 @ 63kg

pls no bully
>>
>>36591799

Most people who boast about their bw ohp are on gear. I have not seen any natty in my gym pressing more for reps. But then again there are like 5 people only who do ohp at all.

People in such threads are afraid to tell how much they lift when e-staters and roiders come in claiming the fame of lifting more than 1pl8.

Mark my words i rustled now many jimmies. Just wait.
>>
>>36591799
That's fine bro.

>tfw 37.5kg 4x8 @ 77kg
>>
>>36591835
That's what it's like in most gyms, yeah. Then I joined a weightlifting gym. It's a whole different world.
>>
>>36591387
6ft, 68kg.
Can do 35kg (15 on the bar) for 3x10
Lifting for 2 months, today is shoulders day so i may try to add a kilo or two.
>>
>>36591847

But how many of those guys are natty?
>>
>>36591864

Aim for 5 to 6 reps. It is only way to progress.
>>
>>36591880
Should i add a set? Can someone give a little more info on this?
>>
>>36591543
>I'd really fix that issue not just avoid it m8
it's more discomfort than hurt, I sprained both my wrists at points when I was younger. It's not like I'm weaker with a normal bar, but I just prefer axle.
>>
130kg/285lbs, did this couple of weeks ago.

BW ohp/ 100kg,225lbs is advanced imo
>>
>>36591886

Just lift but advice for you is to do ohp 2 times per week. Do at least 2 warming up sets then 3 working sets of 5 to 6 reps. Warm up should be a bar and another plus 5-10 kg.

Frequency is the key here. 2 times per week.
>>
>>36591864
you might fuck up your shoulders, check athlean x way of doing it
>>
>>36591911

Nobody cares
>>
Weigh 73kg, Haven't attempted 1RM yet but I do 3 sets of 4 reps with 50kg.
>>
Bodyweight x 1 is respectable. Manlets and fatties bragging about 135lbs x 1 ohp at 150+lbs bw make me cringe
>>
>>36591926
But Im natty :(
>>
>>36591762
I can get it above my head, I just can't lock it out proper. I'm just 1.87 tall with pretty long arms, and with them extended, plus the plates adding another ~20 cm to that, it's enough to hit the ceiling when I'm fully locked out, even if I lift in flats.
>>
I can 1pl8 x5 at 165 pounds, but I'm not sure about 1rm.
>>
My ohp is trash

Depressing 2bh
>>
>>36591387
160lb Manlet here, overhead press is one of the exercises I'm good at because my arms don't have to travel too far unlike you towering sasquatch bitches. My personal best is 215lbs , now do 205 for 2 without much difficulty. I'm cool with this.
>>
>>36591998
Height is just another weakass excuse to be weak
>>
>>36591991

Twice a week. Low reps.
>>
>>36592014
technically, lifting more weight for less range is not weaker to lifting less for more range though.

Just see half-rep barbell flys lol
>>
>>36591771
>have bodyweight ohp
>150lbs

I-I'm no longer dyel?
>>
12 deep HSPU
>>
Mine is awful,
6ft 3 83kg and can ohp 40kg for 5 :( feelsbadman.
My only excuse is having long af arms I guess
>>
bw is 80 kg, OHP is 53 kg 5x3
a-am I dyel ?
>>
>>36592106
6ft1 85kg
can OHP 65-70kg for one.
also have long arms, like a little over 6ft5.

Not sure if it's the long arms or the slight scoliosis but I have had like 5 shoulder injuries.
>>
6,5 feet 130kg ohp natty
Gotta eat big to get big C'mon
>>
>>36591387
45kg for 3 reps haha kill me
>>
>>36591387
I got 155 for 2, but the 2nd rep was sloppy/cheaty. I weigh 160, so I'm not to hard on myself about it. My ohp used to be shit, but honestly it was worth the work to get it up
>>
I'm stuck at 60kg for 5 reps (be 75kg).

I can't seem to I improve on that without having to use some leg drive. I might just start increasing the weight anyway and not worry about using my legs too much and hopefully that will help with my strict press.

I also do seated DB press 4x8 for volume/assistance, so hopefully that will help too.
>>
>>36591424

Had it too. Like the others said, you have to squeeze your glutes throughout the lift.
>>
>>36591415
You are letting your wrist bend to much. Try a suicide grip it'll place the bar lower in palm
>>
Most I've done is 75kg x5 at bw of 88. Ohp stalls like crazy
>>
>>36591387
52kg (114lb) for 7
bw 77kg (170lb)
Lifting 9 months
>>
>>36591387
pr was 1x5 62,5 kg at 82kg bw
>>
>>36591387
145 x 5 at 194
>>
>>36592039
If you're taller you weight more and have more and larger muscle. Nobody 5'6 is ever winning strongman.
>>
>>36592082
probably my 5x is 147 and my shoulders are still shitty.
>>
155 lbs @ 180 BW
>>
185lbs 1RM
165x5 working @ 190lbs
I'd probably have a better 1rm, but smolov jr bench is kicing my ass
