I'm probably only beginner or medium tier, because I get bored way before I have to give up.
I kinda like them as a nice core exercise, but fuck me, are they boring. Situps or stuff like them at least requires some movement, but they fuck with my neck.
also, they take too much time. I can easily do two 20reps sets of situps in the morning, after leaving bed, and have a nice "I did something" feeling, but with planks, I would need to get up an hour earlier for that.
How can I into planking better?

Planking is easy as fuck unless you're a fatass. If you can hold it for more than 5 minutes don't bother doing it more.

Which exercises does one upgrade to after reaching the 5 minute milestone for planking?

If you can plank for the duration of the Hotline Bling MV then there's obviously no need to do more.

Depends. It won't do shit in terms of making you stronger overall, but it's nice for challenging yourself, it's an exercise in self discipline. I do them on a bench and put my tablet on the floor so I can watch stuff. The last minutes of a plank are a harder grind than any squat or deadlift.

It's perfectly fine if you want to do it as an exercise in self-discipline or some other personal reason.

I did 4 minutes yesterday for the first time.

Btw, in the picture she spreads her legs quite a bit, but I always rest on one foot, because I always do the same while doing push-ups. Does it make any difference?

I can do it for 5+ minutes easily if I do it like in that pic. When and if I do planks, I put my feet together and move my elbows past my forehead.

When you plank, pull your elbows down. This will take the tension off the shoulders and put more into your abs.
