Is this common in the US?

If yes, in which states? Also what would you do for fixing this obesity problem?
>>
>>36507680
>Is this common in the US?

It depends where you are. I virtually never see it where I am, and those two times was only when I went into Wal-Mart, aka the shame of the U.S.
>>
Napalm should work.
>>
>>36507680
I wouldn't say it's common, but it's certainly not uncommon. And it's like that pretty much everywhere. It's because capitalism and lazy dumb people. There is no quick fix, desu I think we just have to wait until all the fatties die off.
>>
>>36507680
This is why we need veganism
>>
>>36507680

Eugenics.
>>
>>36507680
As someone who works in retail, yes it is common. Those scooters are for disabled people, but theres nothing to stop fat people or anyone from using them.

More densely populated will have more of it but that's just a number game.

Its usually more common in the midwest, parts of the south and east coast, and more so in the lower income areas.

What would I do? Stronger emphasis on health in nutrition in schools and making it against the law for obese people to uses these scooters and handicap spaces
>>
>>36507768
Great answer, thanks!
>>
>>36507680

I guess it depends on what you consider "common". I shop at WalMart a lot and I rarely see this, although it may just be the fact that the one I go to is in a nicer neighborhood.

I don't know that there's anything we can do besides educate people on the dangers of sugar. America is, of course, big on freedom - and an integral part of that is the freedom to make bad choices. If the government tells us what we can and cannot eat, then that's not really "freedom", now, is it?

Junk food should go away because people willingly stop buying it, NOT because the government said so. I get that it's probably hard for yuropfags to distinguish between the two, but it's an integral part of American culture.
>>
>>36507754
Most vegans I've met are skinny-fat. I live in one of the hippy-capitals of the west coast.
>>
>>36507680
>Also what would you do for fixing this obesity problem?
Tax them like in asian countries. Tax their employers too for their unhealthy employees. Make being obese so miserable that they kill themselves or are forced to be skinny.
>>
>>36507752
Really?

I'm from a capitalism country and I only see one really fat person walking around here.

I mean he is as fat as those people from the picture but he still walks.

The only people I see driving around in those motor-chairs are old people.

The "Fats in motor-chair"-meme you see here often seems to be a USA thing...
>>
I live in the deep south, and I have barely ever seen this. Maybe like a couple times. And I go to Wal-Mart frequently.
>>
>>36507680
This is common in every state that doesnt directly touch the atlantic or pacific

Exceptions:

Colorado and Utah

Everyone on foodstamps shop at Walmart. People on welfare are the fattest. Combination of the schedule of the money delivered, the shit they buy, being sedintary, AND the ethnic groups on welfare. There is no such thing as a fit mexican for starters, and the gigantic sheboon is practically a mascot for the welfare state.

This line of reasoning goes to shit when you start supporting those bad decisions through social aid. It's only natural that the government, and through it the taxpayers, should be able to influence or limit those decisions if they're expected to pay for their consequences.

Carbs are good for weight loss, if you take too much calories they are stored as glycogene then the rest will be stored as fat
Unlike fats who are stored directly into body fat.

See dr McDougall for more
>>

Have you ever seen a BMI chart? Apparently the healthy weight for a 6' male is between 140 and 180 lbs

I live in the South, I have lived in other parts of the country for short times. It is extremely common in the south. Not so much everywhere else. Everytime family or friends visit, they like to go to wal-mart to people watch the fatties. LOL
>>
>work at an amusement park as a security guard
>walk into the place that rents that fat scooters
>some family of fatties just returned theirs (they're all standing around or getting off of them)
>walk by to go behind the counter
>smell nothing but McDonald's
>none of the girls working the counter were eating it
>we were the only people in the building
>the fatties were sweating McDonald's grease
>>
>>36512368
Why are people in the South so goddamned fat?

Is it just that they've continued to eat the kind of meals they did back when they worked on farms (or plantations), only now lead sedentary lifestyles?

I live in the Southwest. The white people here are pretty fit, but Mexicans and Natives are fat as fuck. There aren't a whole lot of black people, but they're hit-or-miss
>>
>>36507680
yes. It's common in the midwest. I live in Ohio. See this in any grocery store....fucking sad.
>>
>>36507680
Really only in the south east and even then only in poor neighborhoods. In my area everyone is generally in decent shape and the closer you get the to nice parts of the city the better people tend to look. Go to the ghetto or the back woods and it's nothing but the betus and freedom scooters.
>>
>>36512384
I don't know, It's just culture here.
Everything has to be deep fried.
I can't fucking stand it.
I hope a great plague wipes them
all out one day.
>>
>>36512308

You do realize glycogen has mass right

In fact it's LESS energy dense than fat.
>>
>>36507680
You'll see it atleast once in your life where I live, Minnesota.
Seems to be much, much, much, much more common in the south, bible belt primarily.
Yes, you do happen to see people like this, but these are probably 1% or less of the overall population.
>>
>>36511805
I think we could solve it if government aid wouldn't cure self inflicted disorders like type 2 diabetes.
>>
>>36512316

It's not just a good metric for non-lifters, it's a good measure for anyone who isn't a serious athlete or body builder. 99.99% of people. And if you're an outlier, you absolutely already know it.

End corn subsidies. End serving sizes. Make PE mandatory for every student in public school from K-12. Make recess a mandatory 1 hour in every public school. Punish parents with obese children.
>>
>>36512483

Because no food is the problem, it's the amount that people eat. It unfairly punishes people who aren't contributing to obesity.
>>
>>36512534

>>
>>36512368
There are a lot of overweight people in the north but it's mostly the older crowd. I think the younger people around here care a decent amount about their health compared to anyone over 30.

I honestly get really depressed when I'm in grocery stores and see how fat everyone is, or when I look at the newspaper and see that half the obituaries are for people in their fifties.
>>
>>36512575
Columbus too, a little outside the city.

Think about it dude....1/10 is still pretty bad. I'd say I see it 1/5 times and I never go to Wally World.
>>
>>36512555
Well, not exactly ending serving sizes but reforming how they work.

Where I live I have never seen anyone use a electric scooter(cart thing), but in Memphis they are everywhere.

anywhere where people are impoverished you will see this.

Cbus fitizen

You see it along the outerbelt. The suburbs and Walmarts around 270 are full of scooters. Never seen an obese person in the Whole Foods on Lane. Bike paths and areas near campus are populated by fitizens
>>
I shop at Wal-Mart regularly (cheap groceries surprisingly). In a decent to nice area but I've been to some in some shittier areas.

Honestly it's rare, really rare and the few times I did see it, it was an old obese person, I'd have to say 55+

But this is all in SoCal so I think the rate of obesity is lower here anyway.

Incorrect. I live in a very wealthy part of California (Eddie Murphey lived here) and there is a Walmart here. It's placed on the very edge of the town

That type of data usually takes time to collect. I'm guessing 2014 is out there somewhere, but probably nothing further.

I live in a decent neighborhood in Seattle, which I think is less fat than the average US city, but I still see this a few times a year at the grocery store.

Depends entirely on the state. I visited TN for distant relatives, and every single fucking person was obese, every one. Mainly, the poorer the place, the fatter the people, probably because they eat all their money but who knows? Just compare colorado to mississippi.

That would be like me going to a slum in Londonistan and saying the whole EU is trash. Fuck's sake, you retard, why the fuck did you go to killadelphia and two of the fat as fatassest states in the nation? God damn, want to go to mississippi and alabama, too? Do you 3rd worlders even understand that the US is bigger than the entirety of europe?

As non murkan i eat mostly what i cook from scratch, eggs, vegis, beans if i need quick snack, I offer same thing to my obese murkan raised husband and he has about to puke expression on his face, all depends on what food you were raised on, which his parents didn't give 2 shits and fed him big macs now he has close to no appreciation to a simple non processed food.

Worst in southeast.

Also, I'd remove adults with >60% bodyfat from receiving health care coverage beyond the most basic shit like immunizations and yearly wellness visits, and allow hospitals to deny them emergency cardiovascular and gastrointestinal care if they cannot pay out of pocket. Anyone could get a waiver with a basic fitness evaluation and nominal lipid panel. Anyone could get a waiver if they demonstrate significant progress in losing weight. Then ratchet down the threshold bodyfat% by 4% every year down to 35%.

Stop forcing everyone else to pay to save them. Let them be fat, if they can afford it.

It's not genetic though, it's purely societal.

You wouldn't see 300 pound spartans sitting around all day.
>>
>>36509908
You forgot the dumb Texas senpai
>>
>>36507765

Eugenics wouldn't work, because it's not a genetic problem. It's a moral and character deficiency that makes people consume and fucking take up valuable resources.

It doesn't go to shit at all. The less government has control over your life, the less you are responsible for dumb fucks around you.

You seem to assume that it's a moral and social responsibility for responsible free people to take care of irresponsible fat fucks like the ones pictured.

>Also what would you do for fixing this obesity problem?

Let boomers die from obesity-related problems.
Carpet bomb the Mississippi delta and lower Appalachians.
