like >>36454739 said, it's fun. you meet a lot of people and you end up having more discipline than everyone else but it's not that serious senpai.

definitely helps gains though, when i started lifting regularly i got to 1/2/3/4 within 6 months, so there were some benefits to sports
>>
>>36454410
Volunteer to coach a high school team and use your knowledge to help all those youths leave humanity behind on the field and off, then transcend public academia and become a college coach slowly working your way up the school rankings until you're making a mil coaching your old athletes
>>

Played Rugby at high school and still play it. It's a good way to make friends.
>>
>You will never be that cool sportsbro who's friendly to everyone and bangs cheerleaders in his locker room

actually in larger schools people who play sports are far from being friends with everyone

Except I was.
>>
>>36455813
I was a friendly with everyone but we don't have cheerleaders in Ireland so it was mainly the girls hockey team I was shagging in the lockers.

I was though. 4 years of baseball and wrestling
Hit a triple off a guy who plays D1 baseball now lol

Just got done 4 years varsity swimming, team won a state championship my junior year. Might swim d1 next year.

Practice sucks balls so I'm probably done.

It's nothing special. You could be the best athlete in the school but no-one would give a fuck if you're still a weirdo neet on the inside.
>>
I did swimming, my school was an arts school though and we were terrible at all sports.
>>
>>36459533
you get kicked a bit, but you give it back.

university is a reasonable standard, a few ex academy boys about who gave it up because they didn't have enough faith in themselves.

But I was. Ran track and played football at a successful 4A program in Alabama. It got me into shape, but it also made me crazy. I was always super on edge during football season because I hated hitting/getting hit and it got me super keyed-up for days before and after games. Didn't make me any less autistic socially though. Guys on the team liked me for my work ethic but I was hardly cool and didn't lose my v-card in high school.

>>36458398
You've been doing stuff other than practicing catching balls and you're still bad at catching balls? I can't imagine what you could do to get better at catching balls.

If you do gymnastics like i did, starting very young, you're kind of always a jock even in elementary and middle school, but not in the traditional sense. Most people just hold you in a state of awe if you mention you gymnastics and frequently ask to see. Of course I would happily oblige with a backflip or something stupid especially in high school. I pretty much always have gotten the girl I want, especially now in college where I'm a d1 diver. So yeah not really a jock but kind of.

Best excuse to be manlet ever.
>>
>>36459934
I was on s+d team for 4 years. I've never seen a sport with so many athletes that simply do not enjoy it.

D1 is very very hard they're gonna break you boy
>>
Man, sure glad I didn't join football in highschool I can just imagine if I did

>did football
>3 year varsity starter
>nationally ranked team
>do college ball
>fuck up knee
>career over
Sports is fun for a while, but it is over glorified. Even if the top 1% of athletes in college football makes it to the nfl, the average career is like 3 years maybe. Most players end their careers before their 30's and don't know what the hell to do with their life afterwards.
Also I know a few incredibly sad guys from highschool who were horrible football players and have no fucking chance of making it to the NFL, but can't get over their delusions. If you don't go to college, immediately try to get a job you can make a career out of for real.

It's because its just such an over-trained sport.

Any body that wants to be good at swimming can be if they just put in the work.

I'm not a natural swimmer but i spent 2-3 hours a day 6 days a week slaving a way in the pool and i got pretty freakin good. But goddamn if i didn't burnout hard.

>>36469612
Grew 6 inches the summer before freshman year, so was clumsy for about a year, Didn't develop a good shot until my senior year, and the team strategy was more run and gun. No one cares how tall your post player is if your offense is based around fast breaks and aggressive defense.
>>
>>36469612
My endurance was also shit. I was off and on lifting (not nearly as often and as hard as I have been after high school) but still eating garbage. I couldn't even run a mile (Now I can do it in 6 minutes flat).
>>
>>36470921

one thing i miss about high school sports were how easy they were to pick up and join. Also its much harder to find people to play with it's not an organized sport where schools are against each other. You just joined and got to play. Football and wrestling were my favorite

Had an awful shot beyond the block. I excelled at defense, but so did the top 7 guys on the team.

Also, I never drank a drop of alcohol through high school. Still don't like it. The hard truth is that I was a nerd all through high school and I shouldn't have been.

Yeah, I'm sure you've really got a leg up on Ivy League football players. Believe it or not, they tend to have higher than average GPAs and earn more over their lifetimes than non-athletes.

Git gud at life.

I was a varsity athlete in high school and my first two years of college, but switched to club rugby for my last two years.

The intensity of varsity sports is a double-edged sword. I felt like I had more autonomy to deal with injuries and training with myself as the only priority when I was a club athlete, whereas the varsity program often asked me to overextend myself.

On the other hand, pushing to the limit leads to personal revelations.

I heard on Infinite Monkey Cage that hand grip and coordination are correlated to IQ in people. Most of the shit I hear on there is bullshit tho, but still you might just be retarded.

There are some studies in macaques that show that with certain kinds of brain damage we approach tasks, especially grip tasks, differently. So maybe you have enough of a deficiency in the hemispheres of the brain communicating that you just suck at smoothly catching something. Or something else that also manifest in dyspraxia. Whatever it is, practice is really the most important thing.
>>
>>36477989
A big part of the selection criteria is doing well at IQ tests and shit. Even in NFL
