I've always figured that what they mean with activation is the softening of almonds.
In order to blend nuts/legumes into more mixable ingredients they need to be soaked overnight so that they may be transformed from a wood like hardness to a banana like softness.
I guess advertisement agencies add the tagline 'activation' to add another selling point.
