We don't really have big mega-gyms like you do in America. Also a lot of gyms will make you go through an induction before you're allowed to lift, or they will make you sign up for a 3-6 month minimum contract.
Try to find a PureGym near you. You can buy a two week pass and there must be one near Islington.
