Bench is a basic lift so I've been doing that for many years i do 230lbs for 9 reps but ive only been doing ohp for a few months and i max out at 80lbs for about 7 or 8 reps.

This is what I have had good success with (3 reps, 5 sets). Lets say you were at 120lbs and you want to move to 125...

first, sets 1 through 5:
120 120 120 120 120

next time:
120 120 120 120 125

then:
120 125 120 125 120

then:
125 120 125 120 125

then:
120 125 125 125 125

then:
125 125 125 125 125


If you feel like you can handle it, skip one or two of the iterations, but generally this'll help get you past the problem of 5lbs on OHP being a relatively large jump in weight and can be hard to make the jump 5lbs just on a straight 3x5 stremph program
