inb4 "read the sticky".

Already did. My question is a little different. I asked a friend who goes to a gym, "What would you recommend for me to look like Ford from Indiana Jones?" They told me to get a pull-up bar. Same day, same conversation comes up with another friend, but they tell me to just lift weights - the stick here says weights.

What do you guys think? Which is more effective for that physique? I don't want to be toned, but Harrison Ford, lookin' pretty good fit.

Step 1. Deletl this thread
Step 2. get off 4chan and start lifting
step 3. when you start to look like harrison ford stop progressing and just maintain.

I don't know why people are stupid and they think if they go into a gym and pick up weights they'll instantly look like Rich Piana.

Step 4. Read the sticky.
>>
Fucking shit. We should add at the very beggining of the sticky something like
"OKAY YOU WANT TO LOOK LIKE <insertname> THAT HAS MUSCLES AND ALL. THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY. READ AND COMPREHEND. STOP WHEN YOU LOOK LIKE YOUR BULLSHIT CHARECTER.
Man, just follow a bodybuilding routine. Or savage ancient ruins, dunno

You half-wits are missing the point. Take one second to re-read my post. What's more effective for getting fit. A pull up bar or weights. I've had two people tell me different opinions. Came here to see what /fit/ thinks. It's THAT easy!
>>

>what's more effective for moving my bike? Using the left pedal or the right?

Just came in to state that OP is a fag.
>>
>>36229323
>I read the sticky on what fit thinks, but let me ask fit, what do you guys think?
>>
>>36229323

You know what, OP, you're right. Never mind that you clearly don't understand how body comp works in spite of reading the sticky. So let me give you a more thorough and acceptable response:

1. Watch Faceoff for reference material.
2. Kidnap Harrison Ford.
3. Hire a surgical team.
4. Have his face sewn to your own.
5. Inject botox all into your face.
6. Read the fucking sticky again.

If you have any questions on this subject or the sticky is inadequate, I hear www.Google.com is full of resources if you can read. Which, clearly, you can, as you have indeed read and understood the sticky.

a pull-up bar is lifting weights. do you think your body is weightless?

Good question OP. Maybe ask Ford on Reddit
>>
>>36229447
>>36229516
Rofl. Exactly why I'm asking which, if there is any difference, is better. You goons make me laugh. This entire post seems to have confused you a great deal! HURR READ THE STICKY. Sticky says lift weights. HURRRR BARS ARE LIFTING WEIGHTS. I realize this, it's why I'm asking if anyone has a preference because the sticky only says weights. Bunch of wacky numbskulls rofl!
>>
>>36229592
obvious troll is obvious
>>
but to answer your question, neither. Both are a waste of time if you want that physique. Just do like 100 pushups and 100 situps every night before bed and you'll get there. You're welcome.
>>
>>36229698
14 posts later. An honest and helpful opinion. Thank you, friend.
>>
>>36229241
>toned
did you really read the sticky faggot?

Also if your routine isn't shit it would involve both, pull-ups (even weighted ones) and weights.
>>
>>36229775
I have no routine you horses ass. I'm starting one... it's why I'm asking questions... on /fit/... it's very, very simple, once you think about it. Don't worry rofl it'll come to you!
>>
A pull-up bar will help your lats and biceps grow mostly.
You won't get delts or chest like in the pic from doing pull-ups.
>>
>>36229804
>I have no routine
Did you read the sticky? There is SS and SL which is all you need, you are not a little snowflake who needs a special routine just for yourself. If you want something hipster then do ICF which is imo better than SL. Now gtfo my board and go lift some shit.
>>
>>36229852
I'm not asking for a routine. Again. For I think maybe... the fourth time? I'm only asking for opinions based on two tools to work out with: pull up bar and weights.
>>
>>36229273
Kek
Just incorporate some blacks as well
>>
>>36229921
Son, you use the pull up bar for a pulling movement, involving your lats, biceps (if chin up), forarms and middle traps while doing it. You use it as a single exercise on your routine.
For the rest of your body you gotta use weights, barbell bench for your chest, overhead press for your shoulders and squat for your legs. You gotta use both to get a well rounded physique. get it?
>>
>>36229831
Thank you. And for the pull-up bars that go in doorways - they come with instructions to use them as simple push up machines as well. If done regularly, this would help would chest, yes? Is there any real difference, aside from your torso, at doing push-ups slightly elevated aside from normal floor push-ups?
>>
>>36229982
if you incline yourself then you are changing your center of gravity, allowing your arms to do more work. More weight = more gains. Also doing incline actives your upper pecs harder than flat.
>>
>>36229921
It's just the fact that you know less than shit that's so painful that people want to give you ANYTHING so you can contemplate over how clueless yo are.

Muscles are built when moving against resistance. A pullup bar allows you to move against resistance with some muscles. The versatility of "lifting weights" allows you to move against resistance with all your muscles since the amount of different movements you can use is so much more.

The answer is that both works. Weights are better because they incorporate pull ups plus a whole bunch of other things while pull ups are just fucking pull ups.

Can you tell me this: what is better for going from place a to b, a Mercedes or a car?
>>
>>36230090
Trick question. Neither. Walking/jogging is better to get from A to B.

Do I pass /fit/'s test?
>>
>>36230131
No, you did cardio. You just lost all your gains.
>>
>>36230140
Well shit.
>>
>>36229323
>What's more effective for getting fit. A pull up bar or weights.
Do you weigh nothing? Shut up and go to the gym. This is a terrible thread.
>>
>>36230140
Kek
>>
>>36230090
Not clueless, no. Just curious which is better to get into for such a small desire of physical physique is all. And like I said before, it's not just the wall-mounted pull-up bar, I'm talking of the one's you can fit in doorways that say you can do all sorts of other shit with. It's why I'm asking, since the sticky says nothing about them. But from what I can tell, you all seem to stand by weights, despite what a door pull-up bar "says" you can get done with it.
>>
>>36229698
OP, this, but be sure to also drink a gallon of milk a day. Remember you MUST do both the 100 situps and 100 pushups, and the gallon of milk, EVERY DAY. In 4 months you will look like Harrison Ford. Now delete this thread
>>
>>36230057
So I assume this is why people who prefer door mounted pull-up bars like it for simple work outs without weights.

>>36230256
Also if you start lifting weights you will get TOO ripped and will look like a circus freak instead of Harrison Ford. Just do a google image search of Rich Piana, thats what lifting weights does to you, your friend was trying to cukk you

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure why /fit/ is here aside from secret gay porn. Every thread for advice I've ever seen gets flooded with shit like this.
