I remember when I was in that boat man. I was 17 and helping a friend move and I couldn't lift my half of a tv. I tried doing push ups later that night and only did like 8. Ten years later and I could bang out 70 right now. Just stay consistent. Work on it whenever you're bored. You can do push ups almost anywhere, so you'll be able to make fairly rapid gains if you want to devote the effort

The world record holder did like 10,000 in 24 hours.

Pushups are probably inversely related to muscle mass. Like pullups, skellys can probably do more than really muscular bodies. They feel more like cardio to me than "lifting".

And I don't think it's strength either. I don't think an average powerlifter can do 100 pushups.

It should be very manageable.
Push up apps do similar progressions but the apps themselves aren't very useful.
You just gotta stick to it like anything else.

I think most of them would get bored aroud 150.

If you can bench 3pl8, the only limit on pushups is your past injuries acting up at some point.

I can only do ~80 and my left wrists starts to fail. If I do push ups on my fists, with wrist wraps, I usually just stop at 150, because why bother with more cardio?

Don't lose hope anon, we all have to start somewhere - if you're persistent you will improve. However, numbers aren't the end all of pushups - like every exercise don't prioritise quantity over quality.

Like many calisthenic moments, push ups are considered a full body exercise. There is however greater emphasis on your chest, triceps, shoulders and abs.

I can hardly do 40 in one set but I do sets of ten with 20 lbs weight for 100 push ups or unweighted 15 reps a set for 300+

After having a history of shoulder issues I don't see the big deal in having huge pecs. Back is where it is at. Improved my shit shoulders by focusing on back and "neglecting" chest.
