I mean, i only partially joke about the femurs. my femurs and hips really do FUCK me for WL and squatting in general, very very hard.
having my feet that wide and that angled is literally the ONLY way i can get into an upright position. there's no way around it.

Suppose you're an unidentifed advanced lifter with a 124.7kg (275lb) 1RM competition bench press. Today you programmed 3x3 @ 90% = 112.3kg (247.5lb) for your work sets.

How would you warm up for this? I'm interested in everyone's thoughts about reps, sets and percentages.

If the scenario doesn't make sense, then post whatever you do to warm up before your working sets.

I don't think it's really possible to see who's talented after only one year of lifting, lots of the differences between non elite lifters are probably due to programming, work etic and general lifestyle(someone who was active and played a lot of sports as a kid can probably start with what would take other months to reach.

>>36008481
Fair enough, but I doubt it's form because I go out of my way not to use momentum.
>>
>>36008400
i would say i was about 20% serious.

I have big, thick bones, wide hips and shoulders, and I'm genetically very inclined towards being strong in general.

I don't disagree with that in any way.

But I'm actually being relatively serious about my hip and femur morphology. it seriously is a huge detriment to my squat, and in the terms of WL, its fucking horrible because of just how wide I have to be, how far angled out my knees have to track, and just how much forward knee travel I have to have, just to come even close to being in an upright position.

Now, obviuously with LOTS of fucking mobility work I can get to that point. It can be done, but its alot of fuckign work, work that ALOT of people don't have to go through.

Say what you want, but just because femur length doiesn't translate to much more than 10% deficiency in weight moved in extreme cases doesn't mean it can't be a detriment in other regards.

Everyone here is a generic freak and you don't realise this at first, so you spend the next few years of your life frustrated and wondering why you didn't deadlift 300kg the first day at the gym.

My standards are so fucked up at this point that 300kg doesn't seem heavy in my mind
>>
>>36009086
Lad...
What's your programming like?
>>
>>36009037
Didn't win, wasn't worried about winning on my first ever. Getting 5kg PRs on each lift and going 9/9 is good enough for me.

Competed in the 93kg class at 89.8kg, but i'm at about 20% body fat so i'll be cutting down now to the 83s for my next meet.

To do a GBPF meet, buy GBPF membership on their website and check your regional website for upcoming meets. They release the entry forms about 6 weeks before the competition.

>>
>>36009139
It was a fairly small meet. 30 lifters in total (11 female, 19 male) with about 50-60 spectators.

It was also a meet designated for novices and juniors, so they let people have extra attempts if they missed lifts on technicalities (like missing rack commands on squat or bench) so they could learn how to lift in competition.

If you're even considering competing I can't encourage you enough to go for it. It was such a great experience.

never mentioned adidas lad, but they are a good choice. rogue fitness has powerlift 2.0s really cheap right now, like <$50

other good choices include wrestling shoes, mark meme bell shoes and cheaper wling shoes like do-win and pendlay
>>
>>36009373
Deload + make a conscious effort to force knees out. The deload is what eventually fixed my knee valgus.

Buy shoes you'll injure yourself.
>>
>>36009403
progress is fun
>>
>>36009373
Knee valgus isn't healthy for your knees, you'll fuck something up. Also looks like your hips were rising faster than your back was going up, but the gif made it difficult to tell.

Tbh getting some shoes with actual arch support would help if you notice it happens a lot. They don't have to be super expensive. If you like squatting barefoot then some wrestling shoes could help. Otherwise some sort of weightlifting shoe would also do the job just fine. I used to get valgus all the time when I lowbar squatted in flats, problem got fixed immediately when I got some adipowers.

And if it happens as you get more and more tired, you also have to focus on not going into that position, even if it means cutting it a few reps short to preserve form.

Lol, you're joking right?

We know Shit-all about the "science"of powerlifting.

Sheiko away if that calms you, though.
>>
>>36009416
>>36009427
I don't feel like shoes will help me at all, since my ankle mobility is enough for how I squat. Maybe I'm wrong. Does arch support affect knee valgus?

Deloading will not help, since I've done tons of easy sets with no valgus but as soon as I go to higher RPE it happens. I think this is a problem Isley has no?
>>
>>36009417
yes
>>
>>36009458
That's why I said wrestling shoes could help. It's not about the ankle mobility help, which those don't provide anyway. It's about the arch support, which certainly makes a huge difference.

Bench press is the most overrated lift.
>>
>>36009287
no.
T-Ball, little league football, lower rim on kids basketball. There are plenty of examples of sports catering to beginners.

Also, if you like powerlifting, you should want more people to do it. Making it more accessible will make it easier for beginners and make it more popular overall
>>
>>36009458
Anecdotal evidence I'll grant you, but I suffered with extreme knee valgus for I think around 4 or more months. My knees would literally touch together sometimes lol.

What fixed it? A big deload and forcing my knees out. I squat 140kg low bar, but for a month I did 100kg high bar squats and forced my knees out until I didn't have to think about it any more.

Picked up the weight I left off the previous month and bam I'm doing it without knee valgus, even when making out.

your examples arent even applicable lol, your litterally calling a beginner powerlifter a child

i cant just move to america as a 20 something man and say 'right little league coach im just going to play here untill i learn the ropes, i know you wont have a problem with this since im just a beginner'

if you want to talk about age, there is a junior category which is compareable to the examples your giving
