This is true. You need exercises that specifically targets the muscles in the area that is close to the fat reserves you want to get rid off. The human body knows how to conserve energy efficiency so it will always go for the closest energy source to send nutrition to its muscles. 100 crunches a day keeps a fat belly at bay, as they say.

I would recomend a recomp, just eat at maintenance with good macros and you should be able to burn fat while replacing it with muscle.

3. Eat less energy than you use.
4. Eat most of the carbs around exercises.
5. Eat healthy simple food.

Lift weights if you want to actually look good when you aren't fat anymore.

You'll lose weight faster at first, then it will slow down. Don't be discouraged by the slowdown.

Eat clean, no alcohol. I hit the gym 4 times a week, upper/lower, 2 of the rest days I do either cardio or abs circuit.

Count your calories. I'm at 2300 cal for maintenance. I eat 0.8g of protein/lb. It's gonna take at least 3 to 5 months for the gut to go away.
