Planet Fitness. Lost 100 Pounds. Gained a lot of muscle and confidence. I also go to Xsport for the barbells when I need them. Since they are right across each other and PF is empty so I get everything done then hit Xsport for the stuff I might need to wait for.

Has 3 squat racks, although one of them is one of those weird machine racks. 3 different sets of benches for barbells, a shitload of dumbells, a cardio area with treadmills, stair masters, bikes and row machines and a small room with padded foam floor with a heavy bag, a shit ton of kettlebells and boxing practice equipment (not suited for sparring).

It's a great gym for the price. It's biggest problem is that like a 3rd of the floor space is taken up by the crossfit area, so the layout is kinda stupid. I usually go at like 2-3am when it' not busy and it has plenty of racks and benches. The staff is really friendly and the clientele is split between locals and students.

New to actually enjoying lifting, last year I started lifting at my local rec center because it was cheap for a year. Recently I went to lifetime fitness and the free weight area looked like heaven.
Have you ever been amazed by how good a gym is? Personally I've never been to a gym that supplies chalk, or allows it. Besides knowing planet fitness is shit, what gym chains are actually good?

Yeah they're a decent gym, although none of the staff are willing to help you with form as "we're not trained for that" and only refer you to PT's. Even though the QT behind the counter could probably deadlift me, she wouldn't gimme pointers on my form.

Can get crowded during certain hours, can wait for certain equipment
Overall: I miss my tiny college gym full of cardio bunnies, and no competition for barbell equipment when I came in the minute they opened. Also it would be quiet and without music sometimes.
