Are oats a meme?

I just realized they just have carbs and a decent amount of protein. Barely anything else.
>>
>>35691478
You are missing fibers...
>>
>>35691478

They are cheap, and you have so many options with oats. They are good for lowering LDL cholesterol and aren't rapidly digested.
>>
>oatmeal
>100grams
>350 calories
>SIXTY FUCKING GRAMS OF CARBS
>10g protein

Anyone who falls for this meme shit deserves whatever they get.

Lentils and root vegetables(not potatos though) are so much higher on the totem poll it ain't funny.

Admittedly oatmeal with ON! peanut butter chocolate whey tastes amazing.
>>
cheap fiber with okay protein
>>
>>35691530
Shut up roid head
>>
>>35691530
The carbs are why people eat them you degenerate. Get your meme keto diets out of here.
>>
>>35691478
Add protein poder with vitamines.

Problem solved.

Subliment protein because oatmeal doesn't have all amino acids.
>>
>>35691568

>oatmeal for carbs

>not mashed sweet potatos, green peas, chick peas, etc

ahahha just eat white bread while you're at it fatty.
>>
Oats are fucking great. If you still judge everything by protein content, you should probably read the sticky.
>>
>>35691591
Bro you dont eat whey and milk soup every meal?
>not gonna make it
>>
>>35691602

he's a natty fatty do you even liftie, ignore him maybe he'll go back to reddit to discuss his optimum 100g protein a day(split in 8 meals else the body will piss it out) macros.

who needs fat or carbs when you don't need to make your own hormones? Kinda jelly of some of those guys since they only have to worry about 1 macro.
>>
>>35691616

>oats

ahahah don't forget the bananas and fruits and other sugary shit as well on them oats mate.

mark rippletits and all the fatfuck natties on mens health and BB.com says oats are a godly type of food, nevermind how awful the macros are.

They're a metaphor for how you should eat. Wholesome, natural, micro-nutrient-rich, high in fibre, complex and unrefined.

And as such, they're also a staple of healthy nutrition. They're versatile, cheap, healthy and can be used as flour substitute and can be enjoyed both sweetened and hearty.

Oats are one of the very few truly GOAT tier foods.
>>

all contain hormones, if you want 'clean' dairy or poultry, you'll have to pay a hefty premium and go to the farmer's market. nothing about the dairy and poultry you can buy in a supermarket make them GOAT, they have great macros, sure, but that's about it.

broccoli and spinach are great, depending on where you buy them from. but none of which coem close to the greatness that are oats.

very few foodstuffs are eligible to GOAT status:

water
apples
300g salmon
2 eggs
1 paprika
>>

now fruits are bad too right?

I imagine this thread depicted in real life would be a bunch of retarded monkeys in a zoo flinging shit at bodybuilders.
Instead of the bodybuilders walking away however, they jump into the cage and start throwing their own poo at the monkeys.

Because y'all motherfuckers know oats are top tier body fuel. Just refute the troll bait and move on. Your arguments came down to,
"oats are good food!"
"Oh yeah? Well so are ...!"

>mfw people are so sedentary that they have to eat less than 2500 calories to lose weight.

If you actually led an active life you wouldn't need to worry about the difference eating oats for breakfast makes.

Besides, the fiber and digestion benefits of oats are great for appetite and energy.
>>
oats are goat because:

- decent protein content (13-14g, more than rice, less than legumes)
- aren't full of phytoestrogens (unlike legumes)
- very voluminous when cooked (second only to rice)
- decent micronutrient profile
- aren't bland and go well with anything
- short cooking time (5 minutes for instant oats, 10 minutes for generic rolled oats)
- cheap

so they are all-around well balanced. sure there's a lot of meme fame around them, but not undeservingly so.
>>
>>35694005

They remove estrogen from the body
>>
>>35694005
They are harder to digest. It takes longer until you you are hungry again.
That's why it's better than e.g. pasta.

>>35694349
Where do you get the 13g number?

This seems much to high.
>>
>>35691783
So if I'm eating 2-3 cups of this stuff everyday, am I overdosing on manganese, molybdenum, and pretty much the rest?
>>
>>35694378
For half a cup that seems about right
>>
>>35694392
not really, these are daily recommendations the FDA has to make for EVERYBODY, so that includes 100lbs females. and theyre on the safe side by default anyway.

So if you have to make a safe daily recommendation for people that could be 100lbs, it looks like that, while we are 180lbs+ (except manlets) and excercise 3+ times a week
>>
>>35692775
If you squat over 315 I'll eat my fucking laptop.

>>35694378
from packages of oatmeal I'm buying and cronometer (which uses data from USDA and other databases). my current everyday oats are at 13.8. And these are even higher, with 16g http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods/show/2055?fgcd=Breakfast+Cereals&manu=&lfacet=&format=&count=&max=35&offset=&sort=&qlookup=oatmeal

it's usually the fancy, nice-looking rolled oats that have lower (below 13g) protein content, because they get steamed before getting rolled. cheapo oats just get rolled dry.

with most micros (except for retinol from livers, and even that requires you to eat two pounds of them everyday for weeks http://axmire.com/10-best-natural-sources-of-vitamin-a/), the only way to overdose is to eat insane amount of supplements.

with a generic healthy diet, you're getting 1000% of one micro or another no matter what, and unless you're a pregnant woman or have some condition, you're extremely unlikely to have any problems from that. most grains have a lot of minerals, most fruit have a lot of vitamin c, most meats have a lot of b-complex vitamins. tailoring your diet to get exactly 100% of everything would require having a nutritionist and a cook, and would have zero positive effect on anything.

tldr don't worry about all that shit

Fats are acids
Vitamins are acids

I eat them for fibre, and as breakfast it really does keep you going. I used to feel hungry again before noon when I had breakfast at 7AM but that doesn't happen anymore. It's also very cheap and very quick.
