"Perfect" form isn't everything. I always try to train as perfectly as possible, but I recently had an experience that changed my perspective a bit.
I went to an Erik Paulson seminar, and he had us actually wing our punches when we were hitting pads. He wanted as to straight up hit the pad as hard as we could, which generally meant reaching and using some "sloppy" technique that he showed us.
His rational was that if you look at knockout punches in MMA, a lot of times this is how it happens.
Of course, when Erik Paulson tells you to do something, you listen. He's probably the most "crisp" and perfectly technical martial artist I have ever met.

Anyways, for people who are interested in martial arts, I would suggest trying them out and seeing what you like. I think what is important is finding a gym with good coaching, good training partners, good environment, and a martial art that you like.
You don't want to end up at a place you hate or at a place where you get injured often. A lot of BJJ places are very relaxed and people will spar pretty chill. Also, if you can find a traditional Muay Thai place, the chance of injury is pretty low. I personally love striking, but do not want a head injury. Traditional Muay Thai as is done in Thailand does not spar hard. The main chances of injury comes from clinching and overuse.

No sport is as hard and brutal as boxing, mma fags can say all they want about boxing not being "complete" as a martial art, but at the end of the day, they know that 10 rounds of boxing will always be harder on the body than 3 rounds of typical mma. Plus when it comes to actual street fighting, knowing how to strike and to manage distance between you and your opponent will always be more valuable than knowing about submission locks.

MMA rounds are 2 minutes longer than boxing rounds. If you ever tried to box a 5 minute round (or anything higher than that) you'd understand that it gets exponentially harder for each extra minute. Basicly I went to the same schol where my mom teached. Me being a teacher's son, I knew all the teachers, and the principal. Everyday at lunch I played 2-3 games with him(who also won the chess tournament once) since I was 9 till I eventually ended defeting him. Now I'm 21 and haven't stop playing.
