Any truth to this or is it a meme? I saw some NYR style posts on FB about this but I never heard of it before.
>>
Gallon a day keeps the riptoe away
>>
Its just milk with sugar

How would it be any different than drinking milk and eating a candy bar or some shit?
>>
>>35572533
It is actually worse than drinking milk and eating a candy bar, because you don't activate your chewing muscles and therefore don't get any gains.

it isnt. chocolate milk is degenerate
>>
>>35572472

Just show that you are the nyr faggot scum.

It's just sugar, which means it's carbs and after a workout your glycogen stores are empty (implying you actually manage to workout like a madman with your nyr faggotry) the sugar (simple carbs) refuel your glycogen stores after the workout.

That is no big science, and there are 100 better ways to refuel your glycogen stores. Chocolate milk is basically the burgercuck way to do it.

Yeah, I just drink a Monster energy drink while I prepare med eggs, meat and veggies.
>>
>>35572630

>Monster energy

You fucking idiot thats even worse than chocolate milk. That shit is just sugar and crap. You don't need an emergency 100g of sugar from something like monster energy after a workout, you need protein, carbs (that come from actual food), and some vitamins.

Half and half cream. A scoop of protein powder. One whole egg.

Mix it until it has the consistency of pudding and eat it.
>>
Evidently the Los Angeles Lakers drink chocolate milk after a game or a workout.
Maybe that's why they are losing
>>
>>35572684

Eat something small which also contains simply carbs and protein, for example maltodextrin, consume it while preparing your real PWO meal, which should be loaded with complex carbs like rice and veggies and protein.
>>
>>35572699
Hmm, I'm vegan and been doing hemp+brown rice protein, creatine, bananas, strawberries, cherries, oats, and soymilk in a blender.

Creapure, German and Synthetic.
>>
>>35572472
It is milk and chocolate. Milk has some good stuff, chocolate is basically just sugar. Milk without chocolate would be a better alternative.
>>
>>35572569
Implying chewing isn't dangerous cardio that kills gains

7'2 345lb pureé master race
>>
>>35572826
milo isn't that bad right? not that much sugar?
>>
>>35572899
As long as you drink it through a feeding tube your gains are safe
>using muscles to swallow is just as bad as chewing
>>
>>35572472
Why not just have normal milk with chocolate flavoured scoops in it?

Holy shit at the "its just milk and sugar argument", maybe if you drink crappy bottled chocolate milk from walmart where its 40% sugar and maybe 5% cacao/brown coloring,

Actual cocoa powder is very nourishing and has a whole lot of vitamins, minerals and a good macro profile, even better when combined with milk,

Cocoa powder breakdown:

Nutritional value per 100 g (3.5 oz)

>Energy 954 kJ (228 kcal)
>Carbohydrates: 57.90 g
>Fat: 13.70 g
>Protein: 19.60 g

Minerals:

>Calcium: 128 mg (13% DV)
>Iron: 13.86 mg (107% DV)
>Magnesium: 499 mg (141% DV)
>Manganese: 3.837 mg (183% DV)
>Phosphorus: 734 mg (105% DV)
>Potassium: 1524 mg (32% DV)
>Sodium: 21 mg (1% DV)
>Zinc: 6.81 mg (72% DV)

Small amounts of Vitamins: B1, B2, B3, B5, B9, & E.

Cococa powder also has a compound called epicatechin in it that is thought to increase muscle growth by inhibiting the myostatin molecule which suppresses muscular growth.

theres no clear cut evidence that this helps muscle growth though, theres this research: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24314870/
but it was done on old people and only for 7 days..

i still add a large tea spoon to my post workout shake for the vitamins/minerals content, if you want the added epicatechin you need to buy raw cocoa powder, the dutch procsessed stuff they sell for cooking has no epicatechin in it.
>>
>>35573133
>Nutritional value per 100 g (3.5 oz)
>100 fucking g of cocoa powder
Do you know how much that actually is?

you'd usually put a couple of table spoons which is nowhere even close to 100g
>>
>>35572923
When I was in primary school, on nutrition day they gave milo to all kids in the morning. So surely it can't be THAT bad.
>>
>>35573353
just had a nice tall glass with 3 teaspoons, so like what 4g of sugar?
>>
>>35573133
>>35573294
this. i usually put in 1g
>>
>>35573294
Holy shit how autistic are you? did i say you should eat 100g? no, i clearly said i put a single tea spoon in my shake.

giving the nutritional value per 100g is the industry standard, 90% of the things you buy that come with a label are displayed this way, jesus christ.
>>
>>35573474
therefore the nutritional value of the shake is still shit-tier because it's still mostly milk and sugar and the cocoa benefits are tiny enough to be negligible

what the fuck was the point of your post in the first place?
>>
>>35573484
He's saying to make your own chocolate milk using real cocoa powder you mongrel

Come on guys get your REAL FOOD and egg whites, make sure you drink it literally seconds after your last set. Your next meal should be 30 mins after pounding that shake.
>>
>>35573504
and I'm saying that it doesn't fucking matter in the end because the nutritional benefits of a whopping 1 gram of real cocoa powder may as well not even be there

are you ACTUALLY retarded?
>>
>>35573484
What are you on about? where the fuck are you getting the sugar from? the milk? because i said before im not talking about pre-bottled chocolate milk from the store, im talking about straight up cocoa powder in milk, cocoa powder doesn't have a any sugar in it.

and if you wanted to you Could make a protein shake from just cocoa powder and milk, using 50g of cocoa which is about the same amount of powder as a normal protein scoop with a glass of milk, together that would be around 18g of protein.

the point of my post was to show that REAL chocolate milk is actually beneficial post workout, something you've completely missed.
>>
>>35573534
don't talk shit about milk 2 go faggot
>>
>>35573514
Are you dense? If there's nothing nutritional in 1 gram then what stops you from putting it in milk for a different taste?

>food is only fuel
Kill yourself.
>>
>>35572472
Leave this board now you fucking retard
>>
>>35572472
I remember seeing a vídeo of sixpackshortcuts were he speak with Some powerlifters or strongmen, they talk of their terrible diets bur the feel happy with them an working, whole cakes, whole chicken a galón of chocolate milk a day, I hadnt even heard of gomad then or even fit
>>
>>35572472
My old highschool swim coach used to say to drink chocolate milk after practice to restore sugar levels and get some protein, but then my new coach said that was an old 80's fad. So take what you will from it I guess. I'd say if you do strenuous cardio like swimming, then that'd be more plausible. But if you're just lifting I wouldn't recommend it. That's my two cents though.

Milk has lactose in it. Lactose is a sugar.
>>
>>35574474
sure, lactose is a form of sugar, but its not a refined or bleached sugar. It does convert to energy, but does not spike your insulin as fast as white sugar. It is lower on the glycemic index, therefore, it is used up more slowly and efficiently by the body.

we weren't talking about lactose, we were talking about added refined sugar.
>>
Honestly you guys pay for shit like dextrose and whey which boils down to the same thing as chocolate milk except it tastes like shit. The difference is negligible. Any simple carb and protein source will do, including chocolate milk. Just make sure not to go overboard with the sugar and you'll be fine.

You should check out some of the small, Mexican markets. They usually carry Milo, or Cal-C-Tose.
Pic not related, just delicious chocolate milk with no nutritional value.
