How's Onitsuka for jogging/running?
What do you recommend that's minimalist, not chunky, and doesn't cost a lot e.g. vivobarefoot

I used to basketball in those with a pair of soft ankle supports. You should be gud
Probably fine for a few km if you're not a heelstriker, but definitely not something for the long run.
You should look into merrell trail glove/bare access trail, NB minimus or even Nike free if you want relatively cheap minimalist running shoes.

Didn't Pre use them before Nike started making shoes?

Merrell vapor glove 2 is a good shoes that's cheap as hell.
I kinda dig racing flats for comfort, tho. I never run more than 5k, tho. I just like to be fast at that distance and shorter.

I don't know shit about running, what's wrong with heel strike? Is it wrong to heel strike when walking as well?
>>35525624
I can't exactly say it's bad, because a lot of marathon runners use it, because it's somewhat efficient.
In short, heel striking puts more strain on articulations and bones but relieves some calf/tendon work.
It's great if you're a 40kg Kenyan with shoes made exactly for that, not so much if you're heavy and/or are running barefoot on solid ground.
No, heel striking is completely normal when walking, you're not putting nearly as much forces.

They say right on the box not for athletic use. They are casual shoes.

Thx.

Are Nike Free 5.0 good if I am heavy? Or should I go for the lunarbeam models that offer more cushion?
>>35527173
Depends on how heavy you are or how you run.
But they should be fine, just to give you an idea, I ran my last 10K with a pair and I weigh 92kg.
Just get them on sale, the MSRP is really overpriced.

I'm 98 now but I run with foot strike and switch to heel when my calves are dead but I don't run too much. I can hold for 5k easily though. Lot's of cardio in the gym and huge legs get me through.
