what did he mean by this?
The article is 100% accurate and right about everything.
If you wanna skip all the explanations and just read the conclusions, skip to page 3.
the entire article is literally broscience at its best. pull however the fuck you want.

Unless you're a competitive powerlifter trying to put up the biggest 1rm deadlift in competition, you'll likely get a better training effect out of pulling conventional. Sumo is similar to the super-wide stance squatting or super-arched wide grip benching - if your goal it the biggest number possible and your build allows for it, its a pretty useful thing to do in competition (and at least sometimes in training, because you have to be competent at the movement and that takes work) but for general strength the carryover isn't usually there compared to, for lack of a better term, more 'normal' form.
>mfw cant pull 275 conventional but can pull 460 sumo
>>35462385
I'm not even joking. I squatted 140kg lowbar, took 3 weeks off, came back and forgot how to do lowbar and I can hardly handle 100kg for 5x5 high bar ATG. (Real ATG not what /fit/ immobile faggots think is deep)
I lost 40 fucking kilo from switching bar position.......
>>35462412
No, you lost 40kg from a combination of switching bar position, changing depth and using a form you're unfamiliar with.
Just switching the bar position would've cost you 10, maybe 15kg.

>tfw can pull 500 conventional but can't pull 225 sumo
>>35462089
>uses valid scientific reasoning to back every point made
>broscience
are you mentally retarded
Sumo doesn't decrease hip extension demands by shortening moment arm. Article is bunk. Read strength theory instead of this meme garbage.

'no.'
>>35462412
I know feels all too well, lost 70lbs switchin from smith squat to regular
>great flexibility and strength
>still have conventional
Coan sumo or nada motherfuckers
>>35462956
Yeah, he probably wouldn't even have lost that much.
>>35463048
I squatted 120kg high bar before switching to low bar and then hit switched and hit 140kg.
Took 3 weeks off and BAM I'm double dyel
>>35463072
I repped 130 high bar and when i switched to low bar i struggled with 115, took me a few workouts to get above the weight i could do high bar.
Now my high and low bar weight should be around 5kg apart.

The point I'm trying to make is sumo is cheating and you should be ashamed for having pulled sumo.
>>35463139
This desu senpai
>>35462385
Probably because you have no fucking back m8
>>35462412
funny enough I cant squat 340 high bar and only like 250 low bar
>>35463139
Why were we arguing about squat styles then?
>>35463268
I was trying to imply sumo is cheating
>>35462089

>I know feels all too well, lost 70lbs switchin from smith squat to regular
Smith squat counts as literally 0 squat
Same with leg press
