i do ATG regularly, and as long as there is no knee cave, and no forward knee-travel past your foot, it is less stressful on your knees than half-squatting.

if you can prevent knees traveling past midfoot, there is fucking NO stress on the knees what-so-ever, but generally you can only do that with front squats.
back squats require a bit more forward lean to prevent tumbling back.

I was borned with a right club foot and had surgery three times to fix it, so could not squat past knee height because of absolutely no ankle mobility/flexibility. It's all scarred tissue and bone so mobility and yoga exercises did not help at all.

A couple months ago I started squatting with my right foot ankle on a small pl8, now I can go ass to grass, jesus it feels so good. My squat will always look weird and week compared to my stats, but that are the cards I got.

i'm the same as you, broke my left ankle playing rugby and when it finally healed up i had no mobility even with 3months of PT and rehab.

i settled for only front squatting as i could actually hit good depth without pain, even got up to 320#, higher than my backsquat

i got a pair of adipowers for sale at a huge discount, like $90 instead of $200 and suddenly i could back squat again.

The guy you posted has stats similar to a ton of low/mid level lifters - Pete Rubish/David Trout have similar lifts (Trout pulled 800lb the other day so he's better at deads anyway). Kinda new to lifting, been on SL 5x5 for 2 months, am 6'7", and have had butt wink recently that has been verified by several experienced folk. It happens whenever I go too far below parallel, and causes awful lower back soreness.

I'm all for going ATG, except, until I work out my mobility issues, it seems that's a ticket to Snap City. Are squats to parallel still going to give me decent gains?
