If I wrestle for my school 5-6 days a week for approximately 2.5 hours, if I wish to lose weight, will I still need to lift 3 times a week like the sticky says, or if I just keep a diet of 10-12*(calories) a day will I lose weight consistently?
>>
and by lose weight, I mean lose a minimal amount of muscle at the same time. After all, I am wrestling.

I do Judo/Sambo Thrice a week with weight lifting. Personally, grappling does nothing for me weight wise. If you wanna lose weight, its 5% Exercise, 95% saying no to cookies and soda.
>>
i like watching wrestling no homo
>>
oh, and I know this is unrelated, but does anyone have any good beef jerky recommendations which arent loaded with sodium

>this guy again
stop flooding /fit/ with your gay "can i lose weight with wrasslin" garbage
>>
>>35335424
thanks man, and also, do you think itll help the fact that we do conditioning at the end also?
>>
>>35335441
this is my first post on fit, I just asked because ive been wrestling since before I wanted to lose weight...
>>
>>35335447
No, it will help you be a better athlete, but if you wanna lose weight, Calories in<Calories out
>>
alright then, thanks man, any help with the jerky though? Or is there a list of good recipes of people who wanna lose weight? Or is it better to use a meal planner?
>>
>>35335494
Jerky is garbage food. What are your stats? How much are you trying to lose?
>>
>>35335363
I'd still try to lift at least once a week to help wrestling
I strained my lower back wrestling and squatting 3x5 3x a week though so probably tone it down a bit
>>35335424
Judo/Sambo 3x a week doesn't equal wrestling practices. But it's still mostly about calories
>>35335435
No such thing really. Use a calorie counter to lose weight
>>
>>35335520
175 lb, 68 in manlet, exercise for school 5-6 days a week with about 2.5 hours. I just want with it cause a meal planner recommended it for protein. My goal is something like 150 or something so I can start lifting(10% body fat).

>Judo/Sambo 3x a week doesn't equal wrestling practices. But it's still mostly about calories

Please elaborate
>>
>>35335553
I think he means since im doing it with an athletic program for a school, they have different goals and shit than a defense/ regular exercise program
>>
>>35335553
You're going to burn a lot more calories being on a wrestling team than training grappling 3x a week
>>
oh yeah, this is also unrelated, but how would someone in highschool's ability to gain/ lose weight differ from someone who is 25
>>
>>35335577
Dude never said high school
He asked if he had to lift to maintain his muscle mass
>>
>>35335597
I am the dude... And I am asking if my goal is to lose weight, would I need to lift in order to preserve my muscle mass
>>
Oh yeah, if Im planning to lose weight, should I stop doing drugs? Mainly benzos, opiates, and weed.
>>
>>35335577
Not at all
>>35335614
No
But it would benefit your wrestling
>>35335677
Yes
>>
>>35335871
thanks
>>
>>35335363
I went from 6'3" 235 to 198 in one season of wrestling with a relatively shitty diet back in school. But I did lose muscle mass, but I got it back and went back up to 210 with lifting afterwards
>>
>>35335363
if youre for real about taking your game to the next level start doing meth.
not like a lot though
>>
>>35335363
If you are actually training not just flapping your arms around for those wrasslin hours, then you probably should only maintain your lifts in the competition season but once it's off season finish SS or increase lifts if you are on an intermediate program.

You will lose strength especially upper body strength when cutting weight but if done in smaller increments you can lessen the blow.

Good luck lad.
