Signed up at the local civic center today for 20 bucks a month which aint bad but holy shit the equipment is terrible. I'm in tennessee And my options are extremely limited. The gym is a really small square with brolen equipment and packed. And its a 1 year contract. Or I can sign up at a planet fitness without a contract for 10 bucks a month plus a 39 dollar annual service fee but I can cancel at any time. However, no barbells. Help me out guys.. What should I do?

just buy an olympic barbell and weight set and lift outside. do deadlifts, front squats, power cleans, snatches, ohp, rows, good mornings, etc. do weighted dips and push ups. get an ab wheel. that's all you need. don't fall for the gym meme.

Some gym in my hometown was bought by a franchise. They sold all the equipment. As my father knows the former owners, I bought a rack, bench, some weights, dumbbells etc for a laughably low price. Everything looks similar to your pic, often even worse. Really rusty and dirty. The weights are from different epochs, the oldest from the 60s. I paid basically nothing (100 bucks). It's really great. Unfortunately, I don't live with my parents any longer, but I still use the equipment when I'm visiting (like atm).
The point is: It doesn't really matter.

Well its not even the weight that are bad, it's just the gym is just a room that is as small as a bedroom. Its very poor and just shitty and there's quite a few people that go plus its a 1 year contract so I can't get out :/
