ok /fit/ i have an issue. I used to gave decent gainz but rowing season has started. Thus the team is erging (using the rowing machine) 6 days a week. I am no longer able to lift because i will be too fatigued for the afternoon rowing session, and this will reflect on my scores for the day's erg test. Essentially the problem is, when im not lifting, im losing gainz and gaining cardio for rowing (which is good). However when i am lifting, i am making nice gainz, but this is not improving my VO2 max like i need to if i want to be sucessful at rowing. Are there any lifts that build gainz and endurance? pic related, its me

Sounds to me like you're pussing out. Do both faggot. Lift after rows.

rowing is in the afternoon, also should have mentioned that our coach is super anti lifting. thus if i lift he will see shitty scores and not put me on the best boat

Row now
Win medal
Lift later

This makes zero sense. If you're posting shit scores while lifting (worse than if you don't lift) then you're training your body to its absolute maximum already and shouldn't worry about hitting the gym. Your coach can't possibly think a strong back alone makes the best rower. That's retarded. You need to train chest regardless.

he has us do alot of pushups to balance out our back and he has us do alot of body weight squats to build endurance, but he thinks bulking and lifting heavy is bad... hes a cuck
Eat a LOT more. Do some light lift with more volume 2 or 3 days a week.
Srsly, I heard Phelps eat 18k calories when training to break even.

Your coach is an idiot.
Eat more. Consider chemical "assistance" if you're not already on it. EPO would be a good choice.
Look into Dan John's Easy Strength.

this is really great stuff, thankyou

If you want to be gud at rowing, don't stray beyond your rowing programming (assuming your coach isn't an idiot). Recovery is important. If you don't really care that much about being on the best boat, then lift after rowing. Your recovery and ultimately rowing will suffer, but not as acutely as if you lifted before your rowing session.

Focus on lifting during offseason.
