Gnossiennes is one of my favorite romantic piano works, its about undergoing Gnosis. Satie was a bit of an occultist.
Also my name is Erik.
Nothing will ever beat Beethoven's 9th symphony when lifting.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3217H8JppI
Nothing beats a morning session in the gym with a cappuccino and some Beethoven.
I usually don't listen to classical music when working out because it makes me escape into my head/thoughts, unable to focus on a physical task.
That said, I listen to a lot of E.S. Posthumus, when I work out, which is classical-inspired.
Love classical, romantic and baroque music though.

Hell fucking yea! Love this thread.
Also Beethoven has some harsh pieces like his seventh and of course fifth. Chopin's preludes and nocturnes get me going too.

The Rach 3 is rarely, rarely performed well. The performance by Martha Argerich is the best imho, her cadenza at 11min makes me shiver every time (don't just jump at the cadenza please).
