Since /fit/ is often called "the exiting board of 4chan," I thought to propose this question to you all:

Has 4chan changed your life in any way? If it did, was it a positive or negative change?

For me, I have no idea what I'd be if I never came across this site. Even though it sounds weird, this site is the reason I became /fit/ and a more nicer/sociable guy in general. It feels strange looking back at my first visit to /b/, not knowing the changes that would take place in the following years. So I guess it's been mostly positive for me.

Overwhelmingly negative. Literally the only positive thing it teaches you is to not take the internet seriously, I wonder if I had never been here if I would read stupid clickbait articles and slideshows.

The internet Chess Club used to track how long you were logged in and kept a running tab of "Per Cent of Life spent on ICC" . Made me quit that club. If 4chan had such a function I would no doubt off myself

Most of 4chan was terrible for me, I spent a lot of time being a miserable faggot on /r9k/, I was never really the delusional "all women are whores" type, but it kept me in a bad space for a long time, helped reinforce the thoughts I often had.

But /fit/ helped a lot, just reading different threads about how to get over bad stuff in life, as well as lifting obviously. Just helped me gain some self confidence, or at least confidence in who I was and what I was doing.

Still not made it, got about 20-40lbs to go still, but I no longer obsess over my ex, I don't suffer from psychotic symptoms anymore, went from 6' 130lbs to now about 165lbs, and I won a scholarship from a local law firm just the other day, which I couldn't even dream of doing a year ago.

Don't think I'm leaving anytime soon, but I'm working on it, and I'm more successful in the rest of my life at least.

Thinking /co/ is normie:
>adult men arguing over cartoons
>cartoon generals so bad /trash/ was created to contain them
>threads discussing if cartoon characters are lesbian
>actual arguments derived from characters turning into lesbians/trannies
>webcomics written by lonely losers homeboard
>board infected by SJW's/Tumblr-tards
>SFW so storytiming comics that have one boob scene are removed (fostering the creation of the clusterfuck board /aco/)
>>
>>35241959
4chan was positive for me for maybe a span of 1-2 years. You go through a period roaming /b/ and the porn boards when you first start. Slowly you move to boards that have actual useful information like /fit/, /mu/, /ck/, /out/ etc. However, after awhile you suck out all the good information to the point that the content you see is simply recycled over and over again. The board content starts getting stale and you begin getting annoyed by the entrance of all the newfags and memelords.

Moot himself said the golden era of 4chan was 2007 to 2009 and that the site has gotten so large/well-known that post quality has deteriorated.

It didn't change my life. But I am thankful to people who gave me straight up honest opinion and /fit/ trips sharing wisdom here. I was able to pick up their tricks and a bits of their secrets about lifting when I was severely underweight from having eating disorder. Routine that I'm doing now is the one that Lotus made me, it's a split specifically made for my weak body parts, I was able to balance out most of my lacking parts, I'm still growing and I was able to hit 140lbs bulking goal weight. Fat ppl story (now hate) gave a good chuckle when I was bored, getting motivated looking through CBT, making me realize that there are people who has similar ambitions and characteristics like mine. I might stay here just a bit longer.
>>
>>35241959
Meh it's something to do when I should be working.

I guess /fit/ helped reinforce my healthy habits. I found the site a few years back when I started lifting and it helped me stay interested with some good info, and also moments of random shit so brilliantly retarded that you'd only find it on 4Chan.

I use this board as motivation

cause far too many people talk shit: I want to be better than these people. not just to spite them, but for myself.

every single person talking shit is probably a fat fuck who doesnt even lift. well fuck them, im not going to let their negativity drag me down.

I've been coming to this site on and off for 10 years. Discovered this site when I was 12, thought /b/ was hilarious and edgy. Migrated to /sp/ for a while, spent a few years on the drug chan when I was addicted to dope/drugs, then to /fit/ and /mu/, which are the only boards I go on anymore.

Really, /fit/ and Zyzz are the reasons I started lifting, so that's positive. /b/ fucked me up at an early age, but it never affected my outside life. Still, it made me realize how fucked up anonymity can make me. /mu/ helps me discover new music. All have made me proficient in shitposting.

By 4chan standards I'm a normie, but I've spent way too much time on this site.

now im in fit, in great shape, not giving a shit what girls think...no homo.

I mean, why should my entire focus be girls? i'd rather enjoy my life than worry so much about sticking my dick in a hole. there is just so much more to life than that.

Started on /v/ and then moved to /mu/ and /a/.
Past few years I still sometimes go to /mu/ (it's shit) but I regularly visit /fit/ and /out/.
What it really has helped me with is banter and writing.

In uni when I had to write papers I would just write my stream of consciousness down and just slightly edit it afterwards.
It would take me literally half an hour to write 5 pages and I would always ace everything, professors always said I had a lot of personality and voice in my writing.
I've always loved the fact that the voice they heard was my 4chan shitposting.
>>
>>35243723
>I've always loved the fact that the voice they heard was my 4chan shitposting.
I do exactly the same thing, literally just having a big vocabulary and a sense of how the English language is constructed is enough to make nonsensical shitposting into an A worthy paper.
>>
>>35241987
/Mu/ has literal autism in every thread. I'd say the only normal board would be /wg/ to be honest with you family.
>>
>>35243382
I got Ubuntu easily. Then immediately wanted to try debian net install, arch, and gentoo.
This was when I was super illiterate but I got it eventually.

Gotta say, glad I never went deeper than Debian myself.

The only things I have to build from source are github hostings.

/fit/ is the only board I can stomach visiting here anymore. And only in bursts at a time.

Not the biggest success story in history, but this place gave me the confidence (and physique, even though it's mostly cardio) to finally go and become a cop... I also found my wife (a pretty normalfag girlI would've never approached years ago) and now I have a beautiful daughter.

Breaddy good, all things considered.

Literally discovered 4chins by accident. Was looking up robots then saw robot9000 and gave it a click.

I lurked and read and laughed at these pathetic stories of losers. It was so funny reading them. I told my friend and we both started reading them and dying. This was like 7 or 8 years ago now damn.

Eventually found /g/ when I was into computer hardware and then /sp/ for sports. /fa/ got me fashion conscious and here I am now on /fit/. I think this is my final board.
>>

Also, 4chin really gave me some internet smarts. It gave me a kind of critical thinking skill that "normies" don't have. I'm normie as fuck though. Fuck bitches and party all the time.

i think it's taught me that no matter what, there will always be someone weirder, more inept, and more fucked up than you think. so anything you do, on a scale of 1-/b/, probably isn't that bad.
either way, it can't be that horrible because ive been on this shithole of a website on and off for the last 5 years.
>>
>>35241959
I discovered 4chan in 2006, when I was in 7th grade. Terrifying to think it'll be a decade soon. This site pretty much shaped my adolescence. I was the weird quiet kid with no friends, and this site definitely contributed to those qualities. But I had a ton of fun shitposting on /b/ with my anonymous internet friends.

I've gotten progressively more normal over the years, but 4chan has been more or less a constant in my life. I don't enjoy the site nearly as much now. I've just stayed because I haven't found another internet community I like more than 4chan.

I started getting into /fit/ just recently. Lifting for about 4 months now, and I'm hooked. Maybe this site will finally make me more normal.
