stop trimming it and start shaving it with a gilette. shave it every 2 days at least. and shave everywhere where you want to have a beard. genetics play a big part in this but if you follow my advice youre sure to have a fuller beard in a year maybe 2.

The shape of your beard is genetic and the growth/thickness is hormonal, which is also biological but unlike genetics it can be altered. Very basic cycle of test would be enough to see great gains all round
