runners high happens like once a year if you are lucky. and it doesnt kick in until after 3 miles.

why do that?
the current year is 2015

running is obsolete.

i can do burpees, mountain climbers, jumping lunges, squat hops, jumping jacks, and other aerobics in front of the TV, distracting me from my fatigue allowing myself to push myself farther than if i had no distraction...

plus you can shitpost in between sets of HIIT.

Cold. But I like running the cold more than I like running in hot weather, so it's ok.
There's something serene about running when it's snowing, dark outside and there are no people on the roads.

Just started myself a new running routine spot. One on Sunday gone and another tonight. Shit is awesome, it's right along the bay.

I run for about 4.7km along the esplanade, do some bodyweight shit at the park, then run back home. Tonight was only my second run in months, but I managed the whole first 4.7km without stopping at fairly decent pace. Got my runners high tonight as well, shit felt fucking awesome. Saw some babes along the way running too. 10/10, will be keeping it up and moving from twice in a week to 5 times a week in about two weeks from now, then starting on timing myself for the distances as well.

Loving it. Now I just get gotta back to the gym as well.
>>
I'm training to do my next marathon in 03:00:00 or under. I'm really struggling with the first eight km of my runs any tips brehs.

Its been hard to get to that sub 4:20 min/km im stuck at 4:33 for my long runs.
>>
>>35202564
Setyourself goal points along your run. This might be every 500 metres, or maybe at certain landmarks that are X metres from the last landmark to. Do the math on knowing where you need to be at each certain point along the way in order to maintain the 4:20 average, as you get to those points.

Alternatively, just push yourself harder.
>>
So I can run 10ks horrid time something like 1hour 10 mins never really trained for it too hard. But when I tried out to play football I had a hard time staying with all the guys and puffed alot during the second half of training. Is it since I didn't do interval training?I get my 10k time is shit but I thought since I could run 10ks meant something.
>>
>>35202589
I'm running with a buddy that has a pace watch so we have the kilometer splits. We could hold a 4:18/4:19 as we increased the distance until 15km then after missing a couple long runs I can't stride out until km 8-9. It's just feels so different from the 03:30:00 goal we hit last season.
>>
>>35202620
It's a different type of fatigue, the ten km endurance (at that pace) isn't comparable to the stop go of field sports. I can say that after playing rugby for years cutting your 10 km time to 50min should put you back near the training pack front. I also find that even stoping for traffic on runs messes with my 'vibe'.
>>
run twice a week and lift 4 times a week. Trying to get into the habit of finishing off weigjts with a 10-20mjn cardio session. So far it's hot and cold, some workouts I'll hop on the bike and do it others I'll be absolutely drained and unable to.

Diet is consistent and it doesn't happen after a certain workout, anyone able to help me figure out why I find it so hard to hop on after weights?
>>
>>35202675
>stopping for traffic

REEEEEEEEE

Nothing kills my momentum and vibe harder. I run exclusively on tracks and trails now because of it. Something about coming to a complete stand still makes it impossible to get going again even if it's early in the run. One stop is all I need to throw in the towel for some reason
>>
I just did sprints for the first time since I've started lifting.

Got back to regular running after years yesterday. Although it was just 5.5km run (including uphills) I felt really good that I can still run. Nowhere close to where I was but better than nothing.

I ran on asphalt instead of running in the stadium so I am very sore today. Should I make a short run (on the track) or just take a walk today?

I think a mixture a poor form/broken running shoes really fucked up my right knee. I haven't been able to run more than a mile for 3 weeks now, it fucking sucks. >>
How do you deal with training 6 times per week and doing cardio? Thinking of doing it like this

Monday: Push
Tuesday: Pull + HIIT
Wed: Legs Light day: more volume, less strength
Thursday: Push + moderate intensity cardio
Friday: Pull
Saturday: Legs heavy
Sunday: LISS
>>
>>35203571
Keep running, shin splints will go away after you strengthen your muscles behind the shins.
>>
>>35205738
I do training every day, 7 days a week, and just do my cardio before weights. Easy.
>>
>>35205414
There's no problem doing it, but if you're running 5k races it's not the best program to follow for a fast time.

Take 2 of those days and run 7-9k at a slower pace than your 5k.
>>
>>35205956
What would be a good program for 5k running?
I really don't have any desire to race farther, though I realize I'll train farther. I'm at about 20min now and would like to focus solely on making that faster.
Thanks

Hey guys, I'm two weeks into Winter Cut 2016, and started running all around town. I've discovered that I usually have to quit after 3 or 4 miles not because my lungs are shitty, but because my calves and shins are actually in the worst pain ever. Will it always be like this?
>>

no, just get some rest days in between .

As for endurance just slow your running down a little put on some music and zone out.

Absolutely shitty. It's been getting shittier since I had to start running on a treadmill at night because of idiot drivers who don't know how to stay off the sidewalk while driving. I like running during the day when I have work off so I don't have to deal with those idiots at night. And I can't run on the trails now because they're closed since they don't want anyone on the trails when hunters are out in the wood since that one guy was shot and killed when he was mistaken for a deer even though hunting on the trail was illegal and the runner was wearing bright orange.

For your stats, that's not too bad. Keep up the decent work. You'll find you'll continue improving. Except in my case, nope due since treadmills suck and don't translate well to running outside. My running gains are falling fast. I might just say fuck it and risk drivers hitting me so it can hit the local news and have police actually start doing something.

I just finished C25k last week and this week I managed to get to the point where I can run 5k without feeling like dying.

So my question is, should I jump right into training for 10k or focus on improving my 5k time? Just going for general endurance and fat loss. I'm planning to finish off the year running 5ks and then start my new plan next year. Any thoughts?
>>
>>35211768
How much of a fatass were you when you started? I'm just leaving the couch behind and I can barely get through 15 minutes before I have to take a short break. Maybe I'm just not pacing myself well enough. Also killer on my shins and arches
>>
>>35211790

Well I technically started in January and dropped from 230 to 200 just from c25k and the gym until I stopped in may. Then I slacked off until October and regained about 10 lbs because I'm a lazy fuck head. So from around mid October to now I've been fluctuating between 205-195 just cuz my diets been weird.

Don't push yourself too hard. When I first started Id take breaks when I felt too exhausted even if the plan didn't say to. If I did that I just considered it to be a "failed" day like I failed a rep in the gym. Then the next run I would repeat it instead of moving on. That helped my progression a lot. The hardest part is switching from the run-rest-run to running nonstop (week 6 or 7 i think?) Once you can get past the first one or two of those it gets a lot easier.

How's your running form? I've been forefoot striking from the beginning and think I've gotten shin splints once since I started. Running on dirt/turf is a lot easier on joints and knees too. I've been running on concrete more lately and the difference is very noticeable.
