This, I think people here on /fit/ mostly have misconceptions about callisthenics because they never bothered to do them correctly. They started doing them maybe in PE class, where they wanted to get as many acceptable repetitions as possible, obviously with shit form and super low intensity. I have a friend who used to claim he can do 50 reps in one set. I asked him to do them slowly with the handles I have until his nose touches the ground. He only managed 15.

When I was in grade 8, I did push ups every day with varying numbers
10 - 20 - 10 - 20 - 30 - 20 - 30 - 40...
By the end of it I was at like 150 in one go. They were the shittiest form you can imagine.
Anyway, it gave me a huge chest which still persists today.
