What are the pros and cons of dairy consumption?
>>
You're more likely to get osteoporosis due to a more acidic blood
>>
>>35107060
Gainz and pimples
>>
Pros: tastes good

Cons: early death and mantits
>>
>>35107060

Pros: Tastes great, good source of calcium, good source of vitamin D, Cheese

Cons: eating it in public will bring out the broscientists like >>35107188 and >>35107117
>>
>>35107060
Cheese is fucking amazing

Milk has more sugar than most people think, great for bulking
>>
>>35107060

It's delicious, can improve digestion, and has lots of micronutrients. Only con is high calories for the weight, but most cheeses are so rich that you can't eat much of it in one sitting anyways.

>>35107117

That's not how your body works. If your blood ph changed significantly enough towards acidic then you would die, not have osteoperosis. This is high school biology basics.

>>
>>35107060
Pros: Tastes good, can actually help retain muscle according to study, amazing for bulking.

Cons: High in fat so if you're watching macros or cutting just avoid. Also I suppose farting and runny shits if you have too much.
>>
>>35110031

me too but im only 6'2". was skinny as fuck as a kid too. when i started working out my old friend milk was there to give me all the gains i could handle
>>
>>35107060

Cons: None if you aren't lactose intolerant

If you're worried about the fat percentage you can just drink skimmed milk like a babby.
>>
>>35107234
I'm quoting a physician I personally know. I have no reasons to believe he would lie to me.
>>
>>35107219
the mechanism that prevents your blood from becoming acidic is what gives you osteoporosis
>>
>>35110031
Avoiding fats while cutting is stupid. It make far more sense to limit carbs mainly unless you're cutting very hard.

>>35112092
No it isn't. No scientists actually support the acid/base blood bullshit because it has zero basis in reality. It's just some vegan hippie broscience.
>>
>>35107219
>can improve digestion

>>
Pros: -

Cons: Acne, farts, osteoporosis, heart attack gains, cancer gains
>>
>>35112464
Eh, I wouldn't call it broscience, but there are a lot of fermented dairy stuff that can be good for digestion because of the critters in it, supposedly. I just eat it because it tastes good, is nutritious, and is cheap. I haven't looked into the digestion stuff much, but I know the only people who usually have issues digesting are lactose intolerant, and even that can be easily fixed with lactase pills (which I use).

>>35112592
They're just that: correlations. Certainly not enough to care about or make huge diet shifts to accommodate, unless you have some other condition that might be exacerbated by dairy.

>>35112674
Vegan please.
>>
Milk gives me an itchy scalp.

:-(
>>
>>35107060
You get to eat good tasting foods and drinks, such as cheese, quark and milk

Lotsa protein

Bad sides: if you cant tolerate lactose youre fucked.
>>
Someone please explain to me how additional vitamin D from dairy, which aids in bone growth, can cause osteoporosis. Because this sounds like broscience to me.

Legitimately ignorant here.
>>
instead of repeating memes I'm gona describe my own experiences. it gives me terrible acne instantly, literally one sip of milk results in noticeable acne the next day. I know I'm an exception as far as the acne inducing effect but chances are you have acne and don't even know it was dairy. and the positive effect on bones is most likely exagerrated because I haven't consumed ANY dairy in 5 years, I don't pay attention to calcium content of anything that I eat and my bones and teeth are perfectly healthy.

How does dairy increase blood acidity though? Excess carbohydrates seem more likely to do that via ketoacidosis.
>>
>>35114935
It doesn't. The shit that other anon is spouting is unsupported vegan meme science. If your blood ph moves out of a very narrow range you'd die, not get osteoporosis. Feel free to research it yourself, but blood acid/base balance is complete quackery.

Muh nigga, easily one of the best epidemiologists in the world. I've been following a DASH type diet, albeit with more protein from legumes/seitan and a cheeky bit more chicken here an there, since reading his article here:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3471136/
>>
>>35114935

Blood acid/base balance is the medievil four humours theory all over again.
>>
>>35107060
pros: you'll get fat
cons: you are fat fuck
>>
>>35114935
It's alternative medicine bullshit
>>
>>35115010
Your blood ph is fairly stable, but the process by which the body needs to combat acidity can apparently draw calcium from your bones.

Outside of that, dairy probably isn't good for long term health because of hormones like igf-1, but for gains it probably is.
>>
>>35114686
It's broscience.

Just because some family doctor said it doesn't make it true, you can be a doctor and still not know shit about the finer points of food science, just in the same way an archaeologist who specializes in Qing dynasty China would likely have only a cursory at best knowledge of archaeological practice on Haida Gwaii.

I got mantits from doing gomad. Didn't realize it was happening until saw a pic of me with a tight white shirt.

Now i drink lowfat milk and mox it with unsweetened almond milk.
