I bought a pair of power perfect 2.0 over the weekend. I've always worked out in my newbalace minimus so this is my first weightlifting pair. Should i only wear them during squats, bench ? Or can i do my full workout(including accessory exercises like lateral raises, reverse curls) in them?
>>
I always wear my lifting shoes in the gym no matter what I'm doing. I really got used to the comfort and stability of them, especially when you need to use your legs to stabilize, like

>the press
>benchpress
>seating dumbbell stuff
>>
>>35106311
what about curls and the cable flyes?
>>
>>35106349
You need to take off weightlifting shoes for those exercises
>>
>>35106256
I only take them off for deadlifts, during which I'll either wear socks or asics depending on if I packed the later
>>
>>35106256
I've got mine coming in the mail next week, let us know how much they help
>>
>>35106349
no it doesn't matter anon you're over thinking this...

you can wear them when you're doing accesories, you won't break your ankles. you can take them off when you do deadlifts but it's personal preference imo
>>
>>35106256
just dont wear them while performing the diddy or variations of it.
>>
What's a good pair of weightlifting shoes that aren't retardedly expensive, and don't look autistic?

I like the power perfects but if anyone has anything better I'm all ears.

do wins are great, no fancy colour ways though.

The only shoes I could imagine paying more than $100 for are hiking boots. They are the only shoes that you absolutely need to have perfect quality and comfort. Why would I pay $200 for a shoe with a raised heel? I'm not in the Olympics, and I have no intention of being in them (yet)

Or I could buy shoes that that cost 1/2 that and have them last for the same amount of time, because I'm not beating them into the ground. I've had the same pair of New Balance gym shoes for 5 years, because I only ever use them in the gym. They still look white.
>>
>>35106256
You wear weightlifting shoes for Oly lifts and for their accessory lifts. If you wear them for isolated body building lifts you're shortening the lifespan of the shoe without getting any benefit.
>>
This is the most autistic thread I've ever seen. OP who fucking cares they're gym shoes wear them for everything.

This is the equivalent of /g/ recommending that you don't listen to your tube amp because it will wear it out.

but they aren't the same as the shoes in the OP.

they have a metatarsal strap, solid heel and the highest of structural integrity and quality due to their german heritage. some wigger shoes made in china aren't shit

>>
>>35108351

I pull roughly the same weight in both, maybe marginally less in wl shoes. It still feels pretty different, mostly because of being tipped forward.

But there's still a deficit as an objective fact; if a fraction of an inch introduces enough forward knee travel to stay upright in a snatch you can assume that also puts you in an equally noticeable positional difference for a deadlift

Listen to the trip, he knows.

If you buy anything other than Adipowers or Nike Romaleos, the GOLD STANDARD to which all other weightlifting footwear should be compared, you're probably a poorfag or an idiot or both.

This to be honest.

You really need to invest on a good pair of shoes. It's like night a day. I've been wearing the same pair of boots for 8 years now. They were $400 when I bought them, and they were worth every penny. I take them in to get resoled every so often, but other than that they are basically exactly the same as I bought them day 1.

even between pairs of weightlifting shoes they can change your lifts a lot based on how high the heel is. i own multiple pairs. if you do powerlifting or bodybuilding it probably doesn't matter to you though just buy whatever pair you want

Are lifting shoes good/acceptable for running in? Do true lifting shoes provide much of a benefit or am I good with about any flat shoes? I've had the same $30 Nike running shoes after a couple years and -70lbs but they're starting to tear on the sides so I need new shoes. I could always just bring two pairs of shoes to the gym, but I'd rather not.

Is there much of a benefit from using traditional running shoes (I run with a mid-strike btw)? They're easier for me to run in, but if something like the zero-drop shoes would help me improve more I'd prefer them. Would going back to traditional running shoes be difficult if I used the zero-drops? Also, I'd like to start running on hiking/nature/crosscountry trails so I'm curious about what footwear would be good for that?
>>
>>35110498
Lifting shoes like these are terrible for running in, they have the raised heel and generally are heavier than your average shoe.

If you have very good ankle flexibility they are not necessary at all and a flat sole shoe will work just fine, but they help tremendously if your ankles aren't mobile.
>>
>>35110515
I feel like my ankle flexibility is pretty good from soccer/fencing/marching a drum (I may be caucasian). How do I tell if it's where it should be? I haven't had any issues so far from that afaik after lifting for a few weeks in shitty running shoes.
>>
>>35110571

If you can perform a full depth squat barefoot with proper form and you don't have an issue keeping the heel of your foot on the ground your ankle mobility is good.
>>
>>35110601
Alright so the flexibility seems good. Should I go for a higher or lower drop on the flat shoes and am I better off with a firmer or softer insert?
>>
>>35110717
try overhead squats, if you can do that barefooot with heel on the ground you are amazing and get my worthless internet respect.

i actually has competed in weightlifting, and even thoug my lift aren't that big and i'm not that strong (110 kg and 85 kg at 69 kg bw was't enouhg to allow me a first place ever..) i can tell you are an idiot, a total idiot.
it's not just because you have a pair of espensive shoes that you don't need at all, it's primarely because it depends on wich shoes are you confy lifting with. i saw guys with very big lifts using adidas powerlifter as well, because they where confortable with it.
>>35106256
u can use for every lift you want, i recomend you to take them of for DL even though you can wear them during DL as wellif you keep a straight back; this way you'l use quads a little more and glutes a little less than barefoot.

>>35106256
I work out barefoot. Many in the gym do. But then I live in a very poor third world country (Vietnam)
